  2. Mr. Ahmad accepted the meeting minutes from June 09, 2015

  6. Mr. Dawan gave the financialreport.
  7. We have received zero federal funds to date.
  8. We have received the appropriate portion of funds from the School District of Philadelphia.
  9. The expenses are running at 14%.
  10. Central Office Education Report
  11. Dr. Nixon gave the Central Office Report.
  12. The 2015 Academic Plan for Universal Institute: During the summer professional development series, teachers were introduced to the academic plan and were given a brief summary of all of the goals.
  13. Once the board approves the plan it will be given to all teachers.
  14. There are benchmarks and targets for every goal set forth in the academic plan.
  15. The academic plan is great because it ensures that we are on schedule to meet the academic targets outlined in the Charter Agreement.
  16. The universal Leader is given out on a weekly basis to the principals and the leadership teams.
  17. The Universal Leader outlines how the Central Office is supporting the principals and how the principals are supporting the teachers.
  18. There is an Induction Institute available for beginning teachers.

  2. Dr. Johnson presented the Principal Report.
  3. The 2015-2016 opening was an overall success
  4. There are 4 instructional vacancies, 1 climate vacancy, an assistant principal vacancy, a special education liaison vacancy, a SEL vacancy and a teacher Leader position.
  5. Options are being explored for the UICS staff parking.
  6. There have been communication with the city to ascertain if permits can be obtained.
  7. There has been a Staff PBIS committee formed to highlight all of the positive work the staff has done.
  8. There has been a number of recent school engagement activities going on in the school including: Back to school night, chat and chew with the principal, pearls of wisdom and kids in the kitchen.
  9. An additional 19 LCD’s & 100 laptops have been purchased for the school.

  11. The principal nominee Mr. Jeffery Williams gave a spoke about his background and possible future at UICS.

  2. Parents made public comments
  3. There were complaints about the school buses missing some children at the bus stop.
  4. A parent had a complaint about a teacher and was directed to discuss the issue with the new principal.
  5. A parent wanted to make sure job openings are being posted for the public.
  6. There was a question about the UICS 5 year plan.
  7. Teachers made public comments
  8. A staff member gave positive feedback to the board and the changes that they have made.

The board concluded its business and the meeting was adjourned.
