RHYTHMS

You can store 'short cuts' to rhythms in the registration area, it sort of like the F1 to F12 keys on a computer....a quick access route. It will also save settings...like the DSP settings and tempo, and tone changes...like if you want to change a rhythm part from, say a piano to an organ. You build (or load) your rhythms into the user area (140 to 155). On the Casio software.... I downloaded the manual and printed it out to use as a reference, you need to get to know the manual to understand the process...the software is not user friendly....you will need to study a bit to catch on. The main thing is to set your computer display to 1024 X 768.... to be able to see the complete program. It has 3 functions (the boxes at the upper left of the display).... loading in files, creating new rhythm files from midi songs (and converting other Casio rhythms to the new format), and tone samples from wave samples. It also has an effect editor to change the DSP (effects) settings in a graphical manner ( this can be done directly on the Casio, also). I haven't used the step recording yet... but it looks like you enter chords and notes in what would be like an 'edit' mode...not real-time (like just playing a part in). It looks like the Casio notes are assigned functions... like pressing a "C3" note might enter a Cmaj chord for a certain beat.

To change a drum set:
1. Choose the rhythm you want to work with
2. Press the Mixer button. The channel 1 display will be flashing.
3. Press the Right Cursor button, to scroll thru the channels. As you do this..the tone names for each channel will display. You want channel 10 (the drum channel).
4. You can the select a drum kit by the Number Pad or yes/no buttons
5. Now start the rhythms (make sure the drum change 'sticks')...If you like the results, you can save the modification in the Registration, by selecting a bank (the bank button)...then press Store and one of the registration number buttons. You now have a modified rhythm stored in the bank!

Here are the rhythms that I now have in my user memory.... these are the same ones that have been posted before (with all the rhythms). They are just the ones I am having a lot of fun with.http://www.udata.com/users/jkwintringham/fav.zip A 60k Zip file. I am mainly learning Praise and Worship style music (my background is in rock & roll...in the 1960's)...so these favorites reflect that influence.
My top 4 are: Gypsy (great in minor keys... like in the song 'Glory to the Lord') FolkiPop (slow down the tempo, and it will work with a lot of songs) 16Bt_rck ( a really great 'driving rhythm' fun with Am/ G/ F/E progression, and a tone of 075) NiceGrv1 ( a neat variation pattern...sort of like the old 'Shaft' movie theme song)

Ok.... this is my first try at making a midi file into a rhythm (and trying to post it).
It is based on a midi chord progression of the song 'Ride Like The Wind' by Criss Cross. It is a very limited style... you would start it with the 'intro' and a 'C' chord. the progression is built into the 'C' chord. After the intro, it automaticly shifts to the '1 variation' button (the main part of the tune). You can then do '2 vatiation' for a break part, and 'ending' for break part 2 (or the ending). If you choose 'ending' but want to keep the song going, reform the 'C' chord and press '1 variation'. Please post back if this works for you... and I'll try some more (hopefully more usable)... but even as a one tune use... it only takes up 11 k of memory. Note this needs to be loaded into a wk 3000/3500 with the Casio loader
