Lifelong Learning in Slovakia and Czech Republic
to be held on 9. - 10. March 2006
at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (SUT), Slovak Republic
under auspices of the Rector of SUT, president of the Slovak Rectors' Conference
The aim of conference is to inform wider academic community about contemporary trends of lifelong learning in Slovakia and the Czech republic in the European context and to discuss the possibility to establish the "Association of University Continuing Education in Slovakia".
Conference is organised by Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava with co-operation of the Association of Institutions of Adult Education in SR (AIAE) and with support of projects:
- EULLearN -European University Lifelong Learning Network (within Socrates Erasmus programme)
- alfa-beta EU e-learning project
- SEN-NET - Seniors in Net (within Socrates Grundtvig programme)
Main themes of the conference are:
- Situation of Lifelong Learning in Slovakia and Czech Republic (with focus on universities)
- Establishment of "Association of University Continuing Education" (AUCE) in Slovakia and discussion of its mission statement
- Lifelong Learning of disadvantaged groups, seniors and use of ICT
- Lifelong Learning and e-learning
Plenary sessions will take place in the Aula SUT on Mýtna street no 36 and sessions in rooms near by. English, Slovak and Czech are the official conference languages. Simultaneous translation will be provided on Thursday morning during plenary session.

Other contributions : Active participation in the conference will be by contributions within 10 - 15 minutes. Overhead projector, dataprojector and Internet through Wifi will be available. Conference fee:
Conference fee includes conference proceedings and refreshment during the conference. Travel expenses and accommodation in hotel are not included in conference fee, participants will cover them by themselves. We will book the accommodation in hotel according your requirements filled in the Registration Form, which is attached. For invited speakers and representatives of projects these expenses could be refunded.

Aula of SUT (Technická univerzita, Vazovova) is located at Mytna street 36 . SUT is four train stops far from the downtown and four train stops far from the railway-station. It is in the it walking distance (from 5 to 20 minutes) from all below are listed hotels. How to get from Vienna airport to Bratislava
There is regular bus line from Bratislava to Vienna with stop at Vienna airport and from Vienna to Bratislava. So there is a possibility to use this bus at Vienna airport to Bratislava - bus station Mlynské nivy , see at http://www.eurolines.sk/ web page is also in English - look at International coach line services Bratislava - Wien/Vienna, or Wien/Vienna -Bratislava timetable. Another possibility is to use a taxi from Vienna airport to Bratislava to your hotel and back from Bratislava to Vienna airport. However the price is about 50EUR. We are going to organise shuttle from Vienna airport if there will be more participants needing this assistance. Please fill relevant check-boxes in the application form.
