Job Description
The Physician Assistant is an integral part of the busy and dynamic Department of General Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital, a large academic hospital in downtown Toronto. The General l Surgery Service provides complex surgical care in the areas of surgical oncology, colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. In this role, the Physician Assistant would work primarily with the General l Surgery Team consisting of three (3) staff general l surgeons, one (1) clinical fellow, one (1) senior resident and one (1) junior resident. The Physician Assistant will assist with all team activities including morning inpatient rounds, daily inpatient care, order entry, discharge planning, emergency room consults and operating room coverage. Typically this team performs over 20 major surgical cases every week and has approximately 40 inpatient general surgery beds.
Job Requirements
- Successful completion of the Physician Assistant Bachelor degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) preferred.
- Flexible with superior organization skills and the ability to work efficiently to prioritize multiple, competing tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion, make decisions and take initiative while working with confidential patient information and responding to patient inquiries.
- Superior work ethic, professionalism and reliability; demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
- Superior written/oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to effectively convey factual informationand detailed explanations.
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history.
