Project Manager
The Precision Engineered Products Group–Project Manager is responsible in leading its existing Plastic Injection Molding tooling design to meet or exceed its tooling design plans in order to support the local units’ customer base goals.
The Project Manager, Precision Engineered Products (PEP) Lubbock, Texas, is responsible for new and existing project management of customer-related projects. Directs, coordinates,andexercisesfunctional authorityfor planning, organization,control, integration, and completion of projects within areas of assignedresponsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following:
- Ensures that all work is performed in a safe and responsible manner
- Formulatesand implements engineering operations and procedures, as required, to successfully design and produce new customer products using APQP methods
- Reviews product design for compliance with manufacturing engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract specifications
- Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems
- Directs integration of technical activities and products
Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases
- Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget
- Prepares interim and completion project reports and schedules with a goal of 100% on-time project completion
- Acts as primary customer liaison during project development stage prior to production release
- Prepares quotations for customers on new projects and engineering changes to existing projects
Request quotes when needed for supply requisitions
- Monitor progress to the approved planning schedules, and identify potential misses or conflicts so that the team can plan and execute recovery actions
- Create drawings and schematics (electrical or mechanical) in SolidWorks andSolid Edge as needed to assist build projects
- Create Purchase Order Requests for new tooling and other required items pertaining to assigned projects from outside vendors
- Presents Project Engineering on cross-functional teams and to customers (both remotely and in-person)
- Performs any and all tasks as required to meet and exceed Lubbock commitments
- Supports on-going production to assure on-time delivery and company profitability
- Ensures compliance with the organization standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, on-time delivery
- Support the maintenance of TS Standard requirements
- Other duties may be assigned
EDUCATION and/ or EXPERIENCE:
Required:
•Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree is required; Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Chemical Engineering is preferred
•7-10 years’ previous experience in the injection molding market required, sales experience a plus, quality experience a plus
•Experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles and implementation is strongly encouraged
- Experience with APQP, PPAP submission, and TS16949 principles is required
•Effective negotiation and analytical skills
•Must be able to work well both independently and collaboratively
- Ability and willingness to travel frequently to visit prospective and current customers, suppliers and manufacturing locations as needed
Desired:
•Masters' of Business Administration degree, a plus
•Second language (Spanish), a strong plus
Skills/Competencies:
•Experience in strategic planning and execution. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management. Knowledge of structuring sales quota goals and revenue expectations
•Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to communicate and negotiate with a variety of internal and external constituencies
•Ability to clearly present recommendations/ideas and to summarize complex issues
• Ability to appropriately handle confidential material
• Proficient in standard Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
