MINERALS DESCRIPTION

HYDROTHERMAL BERYLS

Emerald crystals with seed grown by the hydrothermal method, weight 100-150 car. Also seedless, flawless thinner (4-6 mm) slabs weight 40-50 Car., thicker (7-9 mm) slabs weight 50-120 Car. Red Beryl – up to 8 mm thick slabs. Aquamarine – up to 4-5 mm thick slabs.

I.R. - 1.58; H - 7.5-8.0; D - 2.67-2.70. Cutting angles: Pavilion - 43°; Crown-42°.

HYDROTHERMAL CORUNDUMS

Grown by hydrothermal method. Seedless slabs weight 10-20 to 50-80 Car. I.R. - 1.75; H - 9.0; D - 3.9-4.0. Cutting angles: Pavilion - 42°; Crown - 40°.

PULLED FORSTERITE, TANZANITE LOOKALIKE

Pulled boules grown by the Czochralski method, weight 250-300 Car., also sawn pieces. Has an excellent color change from purple in daylight to blue in incandescent light.

I.R. 1,635-1.67; H – 7.0; D – 3.24. Cutting angles: Pavilion - 40°; Crown - 40°.

ALEXANDRITE (CHRYSOBERYL)

Pulled boules grown by Czochralski method, weight 300-700 Car. Small cut pieces available. This material has an excellent color change from bluish green in daylight, to purplish-red in incandescent light.

I.R. - 1.74; H - 8.5; D - 3.75. Cutting angles: Pavilion - 42°; Crown - 40°.

PULLED CORUNDUMS

Pulled boules grown by Czochralski method, Padparadshah – up to 40 mm, Ruby – up to 90 mm in diameter.

I.R. – 1.75; H - 9; D – 3.9 – 4.0. Cutting angles: Pavilion - 43°; Crown-42°.

FLOATING POINT (FLOATING ZONE) METHOD GROWN CORUNDUMS

These are irregular shaped flat pieces and sawn slabs. Red Ruby, Pink and Color Change Sapphire’s (light blue to light purplish pink) main properties are the same as the properties of the Hydrothermal Corundums.

FLUX SPINEL

These are flux grown, gem quality, red and blue well developed octahedrons, also clusters, weight 10-15 Car. This material is extremely similar to the natural Spinel.

I.R. - 1.72-1.75; H - 8.0; D - 3.5-3.7. Cutting angles: Pavilion - 40°; Crown - 40°.

FLUX GARNETS

A wide selection of multicolor flux grown Garners: GGG (gadolinium-gallium garnet), EGG (europium-gallium garnet), SGG (samarium-gallium garnet), YIG (yttrium-iron garnet). 1.GGG colorless; 2.GGG red - pomegranate (Mn); 3.EGG lilac - amethyst (Nd); 4.EGG green - chrysolite (Cr); 5.GGG green - emerald; 6.GGG bluish-green – green zircon; 7.GGG blue – indigo (Co, Ti); 8.GGG red + green, watermelon tourmaline alike; 9.GGG red + blue, watermelon tourmaline alike; 10.EGG greenish-yellow – peridot (Co); 11.SGG yellow – yellow topaz (no additional metals); 12.SGG yellow – amber, brandy (Fe); 13.YIG black (no additional metals) Come in small well-developed crystals from 2-5 to 30-40 Car. GGG properties: I.R. - 2.03; H - 6.5; D - 7.05. Cutting angles: Pavilion - 41°; Crown - 37°. All other varieties are close in properties.

OPALS

Synthetic Black Opal is very similar to the natural black genuine opal, has the same structure and chemical composition (SiO2 – 98-99%, H2O – 2-1%). It has all colors of the visible spectrum part on the dark background. The most common colors are red, orange, green, blue, violet and their combinations.

I.R. – 1.45; H – 4-5.5; D – 2.0-2.1

Synthetic Gilson type opal has nice iridescent effect with all rainbow colors in the slightly transparent body, which comes in White, Black and Intermediary. Also, more transparent Crystal variety. Does not contain plastic at all.

I.R. – 1.45; H – 4-5.5; D – 2.0-2.1

Polymer-Impregnated White Alexandrov Opal has bluish, greenish, pink and iridescent shades. The content of silica is 90-95%, polymer and water – 5-10%

I.R. - 1.45; H – 4.0; D – 1.9-2.0.

Polymer-Impregnated Multicolored Opals have a wide range of body colors (13-15) and show play-of color. The main colors are blue, green, red, orange, pink and white. The chemical composition is: silica – 80%; polymer – 20%.

I.R. – 1.455-1.47; H – 4.0; D – 1.9

Materials are unaffected by detergents, seawater, acetone, etc. Available in irregular shape pieces weight 10-50 Car. (up to 200gr. slabs for Polymer-Impregnated Multicolored Opals). Requires the same gently cabbing as the natural Opal.

STAR CORUNDUMS

Both Ruby and Sapphire are flame-fusion Corundums fiberized with Rutile, which gives the same star effect as natural Star Ruby and Sapphire have; they come in half boule, sawn along the main axis – half cylinder split with diameter up to 5-6 mm, which let you to receive cabochons up to 12x10 mm size.
