Daily Itinerary:

July5: Today we depart by from the Salt Lake Airport for our flight to Calgary, Alberta, arriving in the early afternoon. We’ll board our coach and drive a couple of hours south to Cardston, rich in church history and so important to the Canadian saints. After a brief rest at the hotel, we’ll enjoy dinner and a session in the Cardston Temple. We sleep in Cardston tonight. D

July 6: Today is a travel day as we make our way across eastern Alberta and into Saskatchewan. This area, while relatively flat, is rich in agriculture and is pleasant to drive through. We’ll make a brief stop in Lethbridge to see Alberta’s first LDS church building built in 1918, and learn some interesting church history from this area. Our lunch stop is in Medicine Hat on the South Saskatchewan River – an area rich in natural gas. Our afternoon drive is designated as a scenic route which takes us into the vast farmlands of Saskatchewan, arriving in Regina this evening. B

July7: We’ll enjoy a morning session in the Regina, Saskatchewan Temple today. We’ll then work our way south into North Dakota. This tour is unique in that you’ll see areas that are off the beaten track. We’ll make our way through the pleasant landscape of rural Saskatchewan, making a lunch stop in Weyburn. Our afternoon drive takes us into North Dakota and into the town of Minot where we’ll spend the evening. Dinner is included this evening. B, D

July8: We’ll get an early start as we continue south, crossing over Audibon Lake (famous for its bird refuge and fishing) making our way into Bismarck where we’ll enjoy a late morning session in the Bismarck Temple. After lunch, we’ll continue east along I94 into Minnesota staying in the Alexandria area tonight. B

July 9: Today is Saturday. We’ll drive into Minneapolis this morning enjoying lunch followed by a session in the beautiful Minneapolis Temple. We then drive via Eau Clare and the beautiful Black River Forest as we make our way into the scenic Wisconsin Dells area where we’ll spend two nights. B, D

July 10: Welcome to scenic central Wisconsin. There is much to see and do in this scenic area. We’ll start with an optional sacrament meeting this morning. After changing, we’ll explore this beautiful area. The city takes its name from the dells of the Wisconsin River, a scenic glacially-formed gorge that features striking sandstone formations along the banks of the river. We’ll start with lunch and browsing in town. We’ll then enjoy a scenic and informativejet-boat ride on the Wisconsin River and into Lake Delton. It is fully narrated and fun for all ages. A delicious dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant. B, D

July 11: Our morning drive today takes us into Chicago, arriving by lunch time. We’ll go straight to Navy Pier where you’ll have time on your own for lunch. After lunch, we’llenjoy the one hour architectural boat tour on the Chicago River that goes through the heart of downtown with interesting commentary along the way. After some free time on the Magnificent Mile, we’ll all go to the top of the Hancock Building to enjoy lovely views of Lake Michigan and surrounding areas. We’ll then enjoy a lovely drive along the lake as we make our way to a northern suburb where we’ll stay by the temple this evening. B

July 12: After breakfast, we’ll enjoy a session in the Chicago Temple, followed by an afternoon drive into Nauvoo the Beautiful. We’ll enjoy dinner together in the hotel followed by a chance to see the Young Performing Missionaries in a production called High Hopes & Riverboats. We stay in the Nauvoo area for two nights. B, D

July 13: Whether it is your first or fifth trip to Nauvoo, it is a place that never disappoints. We’ll start with a session in the beautiful Nauvoo Temple which is inspirational and unique. After a brief orientation and lunch, you’ll have time to see the places that are of interest to you. Dinner is the famous buffet at the Hotel Nauvoo followed by a chance to see the fabulous Nauvoo Pageant – the BEST of all the church pageants (in my opinion). B, D

July 14: Today is a treat as we follow the route of the pioneers that left Nauvoo to go west. We’ll cross the river and enjoy Iowa’s monument to the Miracle of the Quails. We’ll travel across rural Iowa enjoying a stop for a picnic lunch in Garden Grove, a way station for the saints for over 6 years. There are interesting things to see still today. We then drive to Mt. Pisgah, where we’ll be joined by Bob Brown (who owns the property). He will take us on his tractor-pulled vehicle around his farm sharing the interesting Mormon history or the area. We’ll stay in Council Bluffs tonight. B, L

July 15: Breakfast today is followed by a brief tour of the Kanesville Tabernacle where Brigham Young became the second president of the church. Across the river in Omaha, is the wonderful Mormon Trails Centerwhere we’ll spend an hour followed by our final session in the adjacent Winter Quarters Temple. The airport is just 10 minutes away where we board our flights home. B

Note: If you wish to participate in sessions at the different temples, you will need to bring your own temple clothing. If you bring them in their own case, we will store them under the bus in a separate bin so that it is easy to get to them each time we arrive at one of the temples. Several of these temples (like Saskatchewan, Bismarck, Minneapolis and Winter Quarters) don’t have clothing for rent.

A PASSPORT IS REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS TOUR AS WE WILL BE GOING INTO CANADA.
