Education Media Library (http://lrt.ednet.ns.ca)

The Education Media Library has over 5000 titles in its video collection. All programs have been evaluated for curriculum fit and are intended to support the Nova Scotia Public School Program. They may be used by teachers and others engaged in public education in Nova Scotia. Public performance rights have been purchased so that all videos can be shown in classrooms settings to students and educators.

The Media Library offers video loans and video dubbing services. Loan videos have an assigned number that begins with the number “2" e.g. 23456. These videos may be borrowed and returned. The videos that are available through dubbing begin with a “V” eg. V1123. The Media Library makes a copy of these videos which are then retained by you, the client. Our dubbing services are provided for the nominal recovery cost of the videocassette or DVD on which the programs are taped. (Not all programs are available on DVD; however, if they are available on DVD, that is the format that will be shipped unless you tell us otherwise. Media prices range from $1.12 for a 20 minute tape to $1.60 for a 2 hour videotape, or $1.60 for a DVD.

To search our online catalogue for science resources, go to http://lrt.ednet.ns.ca. Select “Media Library >Search online catalogue” from the menu on the left hand side. In the search box, enter curriculum areas with a grade level like “English Language Arts 4” or subject terms like “forces and simple machines” to find resources that are appropriate for your students.
