NEW COVENANT EDUCATION

Expectations and Behavior

God has set forth specific expectations and behaviors that willdevelop as a result of a person’s faithfulness to the Lord when following the commands of His Covenant. New Covenant Education also sets forth specific expectations and behaviors that will develop as a result of a person’s faithfulness to the Lord when following the commands of this homeschool covenant.

Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.
Deuteronomy 29:9

Expectations: Implementing the POWER Strategy

  1. Plan -- From the beginning God had a plan. He did not make it up as He went along. He knew the beginning from the end. Therefore, a plan of instruction should be implemented and followed.
  2. Order–God does all things orderly and neatly as not to cause confusion or chaos. Therefore, order and neatness within the home and instruction should be promoted to avoid confusion and chaos.
  3. Work – God accomplished His plan through the finished work of Jesus Christ. It is important to develop a work ethic that is done in the confidence and strength of the Lord Jesus Christ, completing our tasks for His Glory.
  4. Evaluate –God communicates through His Word to maintain personal relationships with His children, to remind us of His promises, and to encourage us as we go. Times of evaluations should be used for the same purpose.
  5. Report– Christ made Himself fully accountable, establishing His testimony through His proven work on the cross. Therefore, we should not avoid accountability, but rather establish proof of the work we are claiming.

Behaviors:

  1. Love–Establish your own personal relationship with the Lord.
  2. Obey– Submit to those who the Lord has put in authority over you.
  3. Mature–Grow in an attitude that is helpful and not hurtful to those around you.
  4. Forgive --Exercise forgiveness and mercy toward others.
  5. Ask for Help – Ask and wait for instruction when not sure.
  6. Manage Time– Use your time wisely.

And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. 1John 3:24

Discipline

God has set forth consequences for His children who choose to walk contrary to His commandments as a means of re-establishing a right relationship with Him. This homeschool covenant also supports disciplinary measures for the child that refuses to follow the commitment to the homeschool covenant. Similarly, it acts as a means to re-establish God’s pattern of authority and the benefits of being in right relationship with the parent(s).

For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. Proverbs 3:12

The parent(s) will use their own discretionary discipline as a servant of the Lord prior to administering this “formal” discipline process. If the informal level of discipline does not regain a peaceful learning environment, the following disciplinary actions will take place.
