POST TITLE :Assistant Catering Manager

GRADE :Grade I (SCP 15 – 17)

REPORTINGReporting to the Catering Manager
RELATIONSHIP :

JOB PURPOSE :To assist in the preparation and delivery of the
school catering service using high standards of food
hygiene / handling and safe working practices.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To assist the Catering Manager in the day-to-day running of the school kitchen and dining area.
  2. To assist the Catering Manager to compile daily and weekly records as required in line with financial and audit practices.
  3. To deputise for the Catering Manager during her absence including organising staff rotas, completing timesheets, compiling food costs and meal charts as required.
  4. To assist with staff training, when and where appropriate.
  1. To maintain and update daily monitoring records as required by Environmental Health, including updating of temperature charts for fridges, freezers and store/cold rooms, routine probe tests for hot and cold foods and food sampling where appropriate.
  2. To undertake cooking activities for the full range of meals on the school menu.
  3. To serve meals, snacks and beverages to pupils, staff and visitors as required.
  4. To assist with the preparation of menus in line with school policy, health and safety legislation and national nutrition guidance relating and health eating and portion control.
  5. To assist with food deliveries, storage and management of food and stocks as required.
  6. To work with the Catering Manager to reconcile the cashless catering system.
  1. To assist with the promotion of the Wyvern Academy catering function.
  2. To undertake cleaning, washing up and set up activities in the kitchen and dining room areas as required.
  3. To carry out duties with full regard to Wyvern Academy’s Equality Policy in terms of employment and service delivery to ensure that pupils and colleagues are treated and services delivered in a fair and consistent manner.
  4. To comply with health and safety policy and systems, report any incidents/accidents/hazards and take pro-active approach to health and safety matters in order to protect both themselves and others.
  5. To comply with all School and Trust policies including the no smoking policy.
  6. To undertake any other duties of a similar nature related to the post and appropriate to the job grade, which may be required from time to time.
  7. To have an eye for detail and be able to think out of the box. To have a growth mindset and be forward thinking with the ability to build a positive and helpful culture.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL BE SUBJECT TO RELEVANT VETTING CHECKS, INCLUDING A SATISFACTORY ENHANCED DISCLOSURE AND BARRING SERVICE CRIMINAL RECORDS CHECK, BEFORE ANY OFFER OF APPOINTMENT IS CONFIRMED. FOLLOWING APPOINTMENT, THE EMPLOYEE MAY BE SUBJECT TO RE-CHECKING AS REQUIRED FROM TIME TO TIME BY THE SCHOOL.
