GA Positions for Academic Advising (2)
Working as a member of the Center for Student Success and First-Year Experience (CSSFYE) team, the graduate assistant will assist with freshman advising, teach a first-year experience course, and maintain an efficient front office workflow. Graduate assistants will have the opportunity to work directly with students and University administrators to continue to improve the quality of academic advising on campus. Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree and preferably be enrolled as a graduate student at The University of Mississippi in the higher education program. Candidates should possess the maturity, leadership and interpersonal skills which will promote success in the profession. Candidates must be able to relate well to people in a college environment, show initiative, have a conscientious attitude, be organized and have excellent communication skills. Graduate assistants will work 20 hours per week, including some weekend hours.
GA Positions for First Year Experience (2)
Working as a member of the Center for Student Success and First-Year Experience, the graduate assistant will assist with Ole Miss Opportunity and the Partnership for Student Success programs, general office operation, and duties and responsibilities as detailed below. The graduate assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Coordinator of First Year Experience, and will also have opportunity to work closely with many other professionals and departments around campus through the duties and essential job functions this position entails. Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree and must be enrolled in a graduate program at The University of Mississippi. Candidates should possess the maturity, leadership capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, work ethic, organization, and ethical and moral character that are indicative of a professional and employee of high caliber. GA Positions for Academic Support Programs (8)
1 GA position for leading study skills groups for EDHE 202. This involves leading groups for EDHE 202 students where a study skill is taught and then applied to the student's own work. Sections involve max 14 students and take place once a week. Typically we have 10-12 groups. Additional responsibilities could include meeting with students for academic consultations, running workshops, and other tasks.
1 GA position to teach EDHE 101 "Academic Skills for College" (2 sections) and meet with students individually.
5-6 GA positions who run 4 or 5 EDHE 202 psycho-educational groups with max 10 students each group. They also have hours to meet with about 8 individuals who note having significant personal stressors that interfere with their school work, and/or individuals who are not appropriate for group meetings. These positions require keeping up with accurate case notes, introducing study skills to their students, and being able to process academic issues and how they are impacting students' lives.

JOB SUMMARY
This is a paraprofessional position that assists professional staff in the development and implementation of new student orientation programs.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Staff Recruitment and Training – Assist in the coordination of the student leader recruitment and selection process in the fall semester. Develop and facilitate the weekly training for 25 student leaders during the spring semester. Create and present personal and group development activities which foster team building. Plan, coordinate, and monitor student leader retreats and leadership development workshops. Advance the philosophy of multiculturalism and actively promote diversity in staffing, programming, and student leadership.
- Orientation Programming – Support the Assistant Director of Admissions in implementing the orientation programs for first-year/transfer students and their respective family members. Assist in the facilitation of twelve, two-day new student orientation sessions and four, one-day transfer sessions to over 9,000 new students and 6,000 family members. Assist with the development and creation of all student and parent publications given during Orientation. Assist in the implementation of special interest sessions designed for incoming students. Plan, coordinate, and execute administrative duties.
- Admissions and Recruitment – Assist with the development and implementation of office-wide programs including Fall and Spring Visit Days, Saturday Open Houses, APEX Leadership Summit, MOST Conference, Counselor Luncheons and other recruitment initiatives. Serve as a resource to prospective students and their family members, by developing informative presentations and corresponding via email or letters.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with special projects as assigned. Graduate Assistant is expected to work during the month of May and June to facilitate the orientation programs. There are weeks where the Graduate Assistant will work more than 20 hours per week. Flexibility in scheduling is expected.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and one year of part-time work or internship experience.
Experience using MS Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Experience using Social Media tools, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.
Ability to speak in front of large and small audiences.
Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to work in a team environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with an admissions/orientation office is preferred.

General Description

Student Activities (1 position available)
The graduate assistant for Student Activities is a two-year assistantship. The incumbent will assist with campus-wide programming, student leadership training, assist the department in administering and reporting program or departmental assessments, and general office operation. The graduate assistant will have the opportunity to work directly with the Student Activities Association and Ole Miss Big Event, student leaders and University administrators to continue to improve the quality and quantity of student activities and programming on campus.

The graduate assistant for Facilities is a two-year assistantship. The incumbent will assist with the operation and management of the Ole Miss Student Union. Graduate Assistant for Fitness:
The Graduate Assistant will assist the Coordinator of Fitness with the management, administration and supervision of a comprehensive fitness program within the Department of Campus Recreation. The Graduate Assistant will work within a structured program designed to provide quality experiences centering on academic performance, professional development, and social/personal achievement. Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: providing leadership, guidance, and supervision to approximately 50 fitness student employees; supervision of one aspect of the fitness program (group fitness, personal training, fitness center) and assistance in supervision of the other aspects; recruit, interview, hire, train and evaluate student employees; create, plan and implement fitness special event and incentive programming; assist in marketing and promotion of all fitness programs; equipment maintenance and repair; on-site event coverage; maintain certifications as an instructor and/or trainer while serving in those capacities. Graduate Assistant for Intramural Sports and Sport Clubs:
The Graduate Assistant will assist the Coordinator of Intramural Sports and Sport Clubs with the management, administration and supervision of the Intramural Sports and Sport Clubs Program as well as the planning, development and implementation of all offered sports and activities. Primary focus is the recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of Intramural officials and supervisors and also overseeing and developing multiple sport clubs and their officers. Other duties include assisting in policy and procedure development, budget planning, league/tournament scheduling and sport/event programming. There will be on-site event coverage for both Intramural Sports activities and Sport Club competitions. Additional responsibilities include marketing, promotion and assessment of programs. Qualifications:
Experience in officiating Flag Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball and Softball is preferred. Experience or interest in Sport Club management/supervision is also preferred.

Responsibilities include facility management; membership services; locker rental assignment; policy development; daily monetary reconciliation; recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision and evaluation of student staff; risk management; facility scheduling; special event programming; facility maintenance for indoor and outdoor venues; coordination of RV parking services for football home games; departmental committee contribution. Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in campus recreation programming, facility operations, membership services, locker rental assignment, field turf and/or outdoor facility maintenance is preferred.
