PRESIDENT’S LETTER

By Gary Kennedy

Greetings! Due to a work assignment I had to miss the January meeting. However, I understand our Investigator of the Year, Steven W. Southard, Sr., did a terrific job of reviewing the work he did on the Fairfield County fires and introducing everyone to ALEX -canine extraordinaire! Thank you, Steven. Also, thanks to Alan Bonham for filling in for me.

The First Annual Investigator and Fraud Examiner Training Conference was a huge success. The presenters did a magnificent job. The facility and staff was top notch! When I first became president, I reviewed a lot of notes and documents from my predecessors. I wanted to see where we had been and what goals had been set for the organization. Gregg Thornton had a vision of one day holding such a conference for the membership. He laid the foundation for it and I took his gauntlet and handed it to Arnie Schropp. Arnie accepted without hesitation, then, he, along with David Crawford, Alan Bonham, and our friends at CFE, put together something that should make everyone proud. Word is, next year will be bigger and better. If you would like to be part of a first class team, we’ll be taking names to add to the OIA/CFE Training Committee.

We’ll also be forming a Fundraising Committee to raise funds for the future. In the past, speakers have donated their time. This may not always be the case. We also need to plan for the 2006 Investigator and Fraud Examiner Training Conference. The facility and presenters were free this year but this may not always be the case. Please let me know if you’re interested in participating on this committee.

Thanks to everyone and see you on the 23rd.
