FOUNDATION STAGE ASSESSMENT RECORDING SHEET

The Way, the Truth & the Life

The assessment recording sheet called ‘Foundation Stage Profile – Religious Education’ is found on the CD-ROM for Foundation Stage. Each sheet covers two topics and gives examples of three steps from the ‘Stepping Stones’ planning sheet for particular topics. The teacher uses the profile sheet to record when a child reaches the indicated steps. However, the profile sheet does not offer teachers a good indicator of a child’s progress and does not allow the teacher to record different steps towards the early learning goal. Consequently, I have designed another recording sheet which uses the structure of the ‘Stepping Stone’ planning sheet and converts it into a record of assessment. This sheet (see below), dispenses with the profile sheet and links planning and assessment more closely. Equivalent sheets, like the one below, will appear on the website for Easter and Summer Term topics. Finally, I have renamed the ‘Early Learning Goals’ used on the planning and profile sheet ‘RE Early Learning Goals’ to avoid any confusion with the early learning goals of the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile.
