A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE MEMBERS OF THE LANDER UNIVERSITY MEN’S TENNIS TEAM AND EACH INDIVIDUAL PLAYER FOR WINNING THEIR EIGHTH CONSECUTIVE NCAA DIVISION II NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AND WISH THEM MANY MORE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONS IN THE FUTURE.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives applaud the members of the Lander University Men’s Tennis Team for winning the NCAA Division II National Championship; and
Whereas, the Lander Men’s Team captured their recordbreaking eighth consecutive NCAA Division II championship, making it their twelfth overall; and
Whereas, the members of this outstanding team include Fernando Las Heras, Emil Olsson, Milan Djeric, Leo Sperry, Tobias Hunning, Erik Friberg, H. B. Nordstrom, and Evgeni Mikheev; and
Whereas, these athletes all contributed to the team’s success with many receiving individual awards. Evgeni Mikheev was named AllAmerican; Tobias Hunning was named AllConference, South Atlantic Rolex Champion in singles and doubles, and AllAmerican; H. B. Nordstrom was named the South Atlantic Rolex Champion in doubles and Academic AllAmerican; and Erik Friberg was named AllConference, AllAmerican, Academic AllAmerican, and received the National Arthur Ashe Award; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives applaud the members of the Lander University Men’s Tennis Team for overcoming numerous injuries and adversities to attain this tremendous accomplishment which also resulted in their twenty consecutive district and conference championships; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives express grateful appreciation to the members of the Lander University Men’s Tennis Team for their hard work and dedication to excellence and for bringing great honor to Lander University and to public higher education in South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the members of the Lander University Men’s Tennis Team and each individual player for winning their eighth consecutive NCAA Division II National Championship and wish them many more championship seasons in the future.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the coach and each member of the Lander University Men’s Tennis Team.
