Course Description:
Concord Country Club is a William Flynn design founded in 1927. In the 1970’s Geoffrey Cornish added 4 holes after a land transfer with State Farm Insurance. The club is situated in a thriving suburb of Philadelphia. The greens are primarily modified soil push up poa annua greens, with bentgrass tees and bent/rye fairways.
Recent and Future Project Work:
In the past year, the club has renovated 34 of 61 bunkers, installed greens drainage in 3 greens, removed 200 trees as part of a golf course master plan tree program, and replaced the irrigation satellite and central control with a Rainbird system. The club also renovated the short game practice area green to A1/A4 creeping bentgrass.
In the coming years, the club will finish renovation of all bunkers, install additional drainage in greens as well as continue on the master plan tree removal plan. The club will also be fumigating and re-contouring a “problem green” this August with future green renovations and re-contouring possible in the coming years. This is a great opportunity for a young aspiring superintendent to get hands on experience in all facets of golf course maintenance. The selected individual will be involved in operational and capital budgeting, sit in on green committee meetings, prepare annual pesticide and fertility programs, be involved in project planning and management, as well as get great experience leading small crews. Standard course maintenance functions such as course set up, hand watering, and pesticide, irrigation repair, and fertilizer applications also apply. Compensation:
Commensurate with Experience, housing provided at no charge, medical and dental benefits after 90 days, meals, paid vacation and sick time, uniforms
