Assessment Checklist for
Geologic Time 03: Origin and Evolution of Life
**After finishing each section, put a check mark next to it so you know each section was completed**
_____ Click on the Apply Tab and read through the Introduction, Objective, Virtual Tours, and
Procedure Tab before getting started
_____ Select a type of fossil for your tour. Use the geologic time scale as a reference. Some resources
are listed here:
· Explorations through Time
· Digging Fossils at Dry Creek
· USGS Major Fossil Groups
_____ Gather the following details on your fossil or fossil group:
· biological evolution and phylogeny
· physical characteristics
· related organisms, past and present, if available
· locations where found
· at least three images
_____ Determine how you will present your information/tour: slide show, brochure, web site, picture
book, or any other creative format of your choice.
_____ Create an introduction slide introducing your fossil and what discussion points/stops your
tour will have (there should be a minimum of 10 stops)
_____ Use the information you gathered for the above points to create your tour
_____ Include a resources slide
_____ Attach the document to assessment and submit
