First Baptist Church is currently accepting applications and resumes for the position of Ministry Assistant. This position would be a salaried position with regular office hours and as needed on Sundays and special events (approx. 30 hours/week).

Ministry Assistant Job Description:

  • Answer phone and greet visitors to church office
  • Copy and send out DVD/CDs of church services to members requesting such
  • Work with Outreach Team to upload appropriate and relevant information to the church’s website and Facebook page
  • Assist the Pastor with preparing and mailing Welcome Letters to visitors and guests
  • Prepare monthly Chimes newsletter in both printed and e-mail formats
  • Prepare and organize weekly Worship Bulletin and distribute throughout church
  • Assist with preparing and sending out The Weekly (e-mail newsletter)
  • Inventory and order office supplies
  • Update brochures, manuals, handouts, etc. as directed or needed
  • Maintain and update church calendar
  • Keep up-to-date and accurate records of contributions to the church and to assist the church's accountant and comptroller with other financial matters, as needed
  • Maintain up-to-date church membership roll
  • Provide copies of agenda, minutes, financial statements, and other needed materials for bi-monthly church Business Meetings
  • Maintain current Family Ministry assignments for each Deacon, including dates for members’ birthdays and anniversaries
  • Order and distribute literature and other publications
  • Forward prayer requests to prayer chain coordinator
  • Set up and print the Wednesday night prayer list
  • Provide Sunday School attendance check sheets to the various departments and classes
  • Prepare rotational schedules for deacon of the week, children’s sermon, and bank counters
  • Assist with arrangements for weddings, including checking calendar for date, as well as securing sound technician and custodian
  • Refer calls for assistance to appropriate individuals or agencies
  • Create, manage, and lead a Volunteer Team to help fulfill tasks in the office and in worship
  • Assist the Pastoral Staff with any other tasks upon request

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
