An exciting opportunity has arisen to take on the role of Key Stage 5 Manager. We are looking to appoint a Key Stage 5 Manager to support the Sixth Form team (Assistant Headteacher in charge of KS5 and Heads of Year 12 & 13).Applicants need to be confident and able to build supportive relationships with staff, students and parents. They must be passionate about ensuring young people achieve at their best.

We need someone with excellent communication and organisational skills, a good sense of humour and the ability to use initiative when dealing with problems. Previous experience of dealing with young people and working with SIMS would be an advantage, but training on school software packages will be provided, where necessary.

The post is 37 hours per week, term time only, plus 5 inset days.

RESPONSIBLE TO:Headteacher and on an everyday basis the Assistant Headteacher – KS5

PURPOSE OF POST

The Administration Team provides a comprehensive and practical support service to teachers and other support staff in the school. While not required to tutor pupils directly, the team has a marked effect on pupil learning by influencing the context in which learning takes place. This influence extends to parents and the general public for whom members of the team are often the first point of contact.

The role of the KS5 Manager is to provide administrative support to the KS5 team and promote the academic and personal development of all Sixth Form students. You will also have line management responsibility for the KS5 support staff including the caretaker.

It is a responsibility of all staff to safeguard the welfare and rights both of students and colleagues. Staff should be conscious of their actions and their words and the impression and impact this may have. SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES AS A MEMBER OF THE KS5 TEAM:

1.Help ensure the smooth running of the school.

2.Play a full part in shadowing each other’s role so that, in the event of staff absence and at times of pressure, roles can be interchanged flexibly.

3.Make constructive suggestions for improvement in administration and other procedures that are conducive to efficient and effective operation and supportive of the core purpose of the school (pupil learning).

4.Support other members of the team in the fulfilment of their responsibilities.

PARTICULAR DUTIES

The following is an indicative list of duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage Sixth Form centre and KS5 office
  • Line manage the KS5 support staff
  • Be the first point of contact for students and parents in the Sixth Form office
  • Provide administrative support for the Sixth Form team
  • Ensure the smooth running of the administration for the KS5 admissions process.
  • Ensure the smooth running of the administration for the Year 11 options process.
  • Be the first point of contact for external applicants for Sixth Form: arrange interviews and tours; update and maintain applicant list; produce offer letters.
  • Maintain individual student files.
  • Maintain and develop the Sixth Form website.
  • Maintain the Sixth Form Twitter account
  • Ensure student contact details on SIMS are up to date
  • Attend and take minutes for Sixth Form team meetings and Year team meetings.
  • Assist the Sixth Form team in the organisation of specific events: A level presentation evening; Post-16 Options evening; Yr 12 induction days; Parents’ Information evenings.
  • Create an annual KS5 calendar of events including PSHCEE schedule.
  • Organise and manage the KS5 enrichment programme, including:
  • researching available resources for 6th form enrichment
  • booking the resources and ensuring student attendance and engagement
  • dealing with all payments for trips and events.
  • Support careers and employer engagement lead in organisation of work experience and whole school events by:
  • timetabling appointments for year 11, 12 & 13 students with the Connexions advisor to organise effective IAG support
  • ensuring attendance and follow up on information received from the advisors
  • recording and reporting on destinations and collection of alumni details
  • providing administrative support for events such as careers fair
  • Keep sixth form study area posters up to date to create income
  • Provide first aid as required
  • Act as fire warden in the event of an emergency.
  • To undertake other reasonable duties as specified by the Assistant Headteacher for KS5/Headteacher not mentioned in the above.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The Conditions of Employment for support staff are set out in the National Joint Council for Local Government Services National Agreement on Pay and Conditions of Service.

NOTES

This post is full time: 37 hours per week with 30 minutes lunch, term time only, plus 5 INSET days. The precise times worked are subject to agreement with the Headteacher.
