Part III

Other Tissue

Use the following as a guidance to this activity

·  Exercise 6 in the Anatomy Lab book page Pages

·  Basic Tissue Pictures in Human Body Atlas pages

·  Tissue Posters Hanging on Fume Hood

This lab is to allow you to become familiar with the function, structure & common locations of the remaining tissue types

You must take pictures of all of the Other Tissue slides. You must draw a representative slide of the other category of tissue. Make your drawings in colored pencil.

On your photos and your drawing for full points

You MUST label:

Nervous Tissue / Smooth Muscle / Cardiac Muscle / Skeletal Muscle
Axon
Cell Body
Nucleus
Dendrites / Will look at with muscular system / Will look at with Cardiovascular and muscular system / Fibroblast
Collagen Fibers
1.  Use the pictures on pages 43-46 and the ones on pages 3-6 as a reference to help you locate the tissue on your slidesas well as the epithelium chart posted on the Fume Hood.
2.  You will need to use the higher powers (10X or 40X) to identify these tissues.
3.  For your photos and drawing you must Label the following:
a.  The name of the slide
b.  Type of tissue you are looking at
c.  Magnification of your Picture / drawing
4.  Once you have found the tissue you are looking for you will need to take a picture using your microscope camera. To do this you will use the laptops and the ProScope software. Use the capture button to take a picture.
5.  Save all your photos in a folder on the desk top labeled with class period and group #. Once a group of photos has been finished email the pictures to yourself. You will put all the pictures of one tissue type together in a collage and label them using Google Drawing. Then save as a jpeg file or a pdf to upload to Padlet.
6.  Remember:
a.  Most specimens contain more than just one type of tissue so look carefully
7.  For the test be able to
Identify the tissues in the above table
Know generally where they are found
Know what they do.
8.  At the end of all three parts of this lab you will:
a.  Post labeled photos taken of each tissue slide on to Padlet
