The Wine List2016
Besides compiling this Wine List over the last 17 years, Sue and Roger are now very much involved in the Wine Industry and host numerous Wine Events both here in the restaurant (and in a marquee in the garden) and in London at various High Commissions with Wine Australia, Wines of South Africa and New Zealand Wine Growers. They hosted the 10th Anniversary of The Mamba Riedel Decanter Awards last month as well as The Tri Nations Wine Challenges, which they also take to Cape Town, Hawkes Bay & The Barossa.
Roger is the Wine Consultant for The Caterer Magazine and contributes to Decanter, Harpers and Glass of Bubbly Magazines as well as the online trade publication; The-Buyer. He sits on The Decanter World Wine Awards, Germany Top 50 and judges on The Moet Sommelier of The Year Competition as well as working with numerous wine bodies on food and wine matching both in the UK and abroad.
If this wine list is too much for you note we match every dish on our menus with two wines to save you the time, please enjoy the diversity of our wine choices.
Getting the best from our Award Winning Wine List
Together with Riedel and Le Verre de Vin and Coravin, we offer exceptional and rare wines by the glass. We were the first in the UK to offer Penfolds Grange and Vintage Krug by the glass, and will continue to offer further exceptional and rare wines throughout the year for your enjoyment.
Australia Rules!
Whilst the Supermarkets continue to swamp their shelves with mass produced New World Wines, we take pride in having amassed one of the finest Australian Wine Lists in the World, with back vintages which are the envy of many an Australian Wine Maker. Remember ABC means; Absolutely Brilliant Chardonnay.
New Zealand offers some of the finest Pinot Noir’s, Syrah and Chardonnay in the world. It’s not just about Sauvignon Blanc, also do remember quality Sauvignon Blanc really is elegant and pure. Roger visited New Zealand as guest of New Zealand Wines 2 years ago and is back there again this coming February.
Having visited South Africa 4 times in the last 2 years, and even hosted a seminar at their High Commission, we are now building up one of the finest lists of South African wine outside the Cape. Premium quality with finesse, these guys have come along way in the last decade, lots of young vibrant winemakers. Look out for our big South African events this September.
Riedel Glassware
Numerous consumer and trade tests have been carried out to prove that Riedel makes a huge difference in the enjoyment of wine. We offer up to 18 different glass styles here at The Harrow each to complement various grape varieties. Georg Riedel even uses The Harrow as his UK base to promote his glassware.
