December 20, 2012
Dear Davis-McLeod District,
The Davis-McLeod District Sunshine Band plans to conduct a Black History Program on Saturday, February 9, 2013. The program will serve as a fundraiser for the district Sunshine Band (SSB). Funds raised will support the annual district and state level Sunshine Band Conferences held annually in June and July.
We request all churches from across the district join and participate in the 1st Annual Sunshine Band Black History Program with the theme of “At the Crossroads of Freedom and Equality” and a sub-theme of “Study to Shew Thyself Approved Unto God” II Timothy 2:15.
The program will use the Adult Young People Willing Workers (YPWW) 2012 Summer Quarter Church of God in Christ History Series as the study material for this year’s black history program. Request the district work in regions to develop skits, songs, dances and/or speeches to portray the history of the Church of God in Christ. Please review the Davis-McLeod SSB regional breakout for churches below:
(1) Northeast Region- Brown Memorial COGIC, New Covenant COGIC and Lighthouse COGIC
(2) Northwest Region- All Nations Deliverance COGIC, Jackson Chapel, Macedonia COGIC and Abbeville Memorial
