“BEACON STREET BUZZZZZZZ”
February 2013
Happy New Year! (Sorry, this is a bit late)
It’s nice to know we are on the “other side” of winter, and may begin to experience more daylight hours, and hopefully an increase in warmer weather. We recently had quite a large snow storm, and it should be recognized that our new vendor Belknap Landscape Co. has done a tremendous job of keeping BSW in tip-top shape. As a matter of fact this is the first winter a number of us haven’t lost our parking spaces due to being over taken by snow banks. Belknap Landscape has taken special care to be sure our deeded spaces are fully cleared; this is very much appreciated. Given the incredible range of expertise of the employees of Belknap Landscape Co. the care of BSW grounds will be in good hands as we enter the spring/summer months when they’ll be maintaining our trees, shrubs, grass, etc.
As we enter a new year, this might also be a good time to say “Thank You” to all of the folks at Evergreen Mgt. who do such a wonderful job of caring for, not only our property, but also assisting the residents of BSW when they are in need of help. Lindsay, Linda H., and Dan do a tremendous job of overseeing our daily operations, while Crystal and Linda M. take care of the accounting and vendor operations from the main office. We certainly are in very capable hands. Please be sure to extend your own personal “Thank You” when you see/speak to them.
Canoe/Kayak Rack:
It appears that the rack has possibly been damaged even more by canoes/kayaks which were thrown about during some of our high wind events this winter. There are a number of canoes/kayaks currently on the ground; this is just an FYI for those who might not have noticed, or for those who do use the rack but are not here during the winter months. Can the rack be repaired, or will it need to be replaced? Those of you who do utilize the rack might want to assess the situation and present your findings to the Board.
Fire Pit/Social Area:
A group of owners have been working on plans for a fire pit/social area in the vicinity of the two large trees by the river, and canoe/kayak area. Hopefully this spring the plans will be presented to the Board for their approval. This of course is a non-budgeted item, and will come to fruition most likely through contributions, and volunteers to assist in building the fire pit. Questions regarding insurance, fire permits, as well as distance from buildings, trees, etc. have been addressed. This could be the first step in developing an area for our residents to gather; with the possibility of being added to in the future. What are your thoughts regarding such an area? Would you be willing to contribute, time and/or money? Any such projects must be Board approved of course before moving forward. (Please share your thoughts/suggestions email )
