Surface Burning and Incineration
Note to Users:This checklist may include terms specific to Operation Enduring Freedom and should be customized as needed. For example:
For specific percentages and numbers, the user should apply the appropriate numbers; such as 70%, 80%, 90%, 99%, etc.
For periodic terms, such as “weekly,” the user should apply the appropriate period, such as daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly, annually, etc.
Quality Assurance

Surface Burning

4. Does the contractor ensure that the following products are not burned?
Note: Hazardous waste, hazardous materials, regulated medical waste, Petroleum, Oils, and Lubricants (POL) products (other than waste fuel to start a fire), rubber, tar paper, asphalt shingles, tires, treated wood, batteries of any type, unexploded ordnance (UXO), aerosol cans, compressed gas cylinders, plastic (except de minimis amounts), paint, paint thinner and strippers, pesticides, pesticide containers, asbestos, appliances and electrical equipment, electrical wires, or other materials that create unreasonable amounts of smoke, fumes, or hazardous air pollutants. / c / c / c / c
5. Does the contractor operate the burn pit from three hours after sunrise to three hours before sunset to ensure good smoke dispersion? (Validate burn process)
Note: Burn pit operations should be discontinued (do not add additional material) three hours before sunset. / c / c / c / c

Incineration

10. Does the contractor ensure that incinerators are used only for their intended purpose?
