JOB DESCRIPTION:Minister of Students

REPORTS TO:Senior Pastor

JOB PROFILE

To serve the church within the confines of the church’s stated vision and philosophy by developing and expanding a comprehensive educational and outreach ministry for students from sixth grade through college. The task will be fulfilled in accordance with the Senior Pastor’s overall direction for ministry at Greer First Baptist Church. This staff role will report to the Senior Pastor.

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Called: This person will have a deep purpose about their life that flows from a strong awareness that God has directed them to serve his church by using their passion and giftedness to serve as a Minister.
  2. Character. This person will have demonstrated a high moral integrity that exhibits itself in their personal life, their spiritual life, and their relational life. In other words, they are truthful, faithful, sincere, hard working—a person worthy of respect.
  3. Committed. This person has displayed a spiritual authenticity through a mature and consistent commitment to Christ and his kingdom purposes.
  4. Compatible. This person will be a good ministry fit, a relational fit, and a skill fit with the pastoral staff team and the church.
  5. Coachable. This person will be aware of their own limitations and inadequacies and eager to learn and to improve. In other words, they will never stop learning as a person and as a Minister.
  6. Competent. This person will have demonstrated a high degree of effectiveness in their previous role continue that high level of proficiency.
  7. Congruent. This person will be a strong supporter of the church’s doctrinal views.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  1. To provide leadership by recruiting, equipping, and training the leaders, teachers, coordinators, workers, parents, and students in the student ministry.
  2. To supervise the entire realm of student ministries—program, curriculum, budget, communication, equipment, and personnel—from sixth grade through college.
  3. To develop, supervise, and implement programs, policies, events, and activities that will
  • Drawstudents and their families to Christ through weekly student worship, outreach events, social media, personal contacts, etc.
  • Disciplestudents and their families to Christlikeness through one-on-one meetings, small groups, training events/leadership development, retreats, camps, conferences, etc.
  • Deploy students and their families to engage in ministry and missions through mission trips, mission and service projects, personal evangelism, etc.
  1. To work in harmony and as a team with the pastoral staff, the ministry leaders, and teams to accomplish the church’s stated mission and vision.
  2. To plan with and submit to Senior Pastor quarterly and annual objectives and goals.
  3. To perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
