Directions for Entering 9th Grade Course Requests 2015-2016

Through the Parent/Student Portal

Families may enter course requests through the Parent Portal. Each student will select eight courses. This will not replace the individual meetings that school counselors will have with all rising 9th grade students to discuss course registration for the 9th grade. Henley counselors will meet with students/families in February and March. A letter will be mailed home in January notifying families of the date/time of this registration conference.

Families will have the ability to make these online course requests from December 19th beginning at 5:00 pm through January 30th at 12:00 midnight. Families are reminded that in order to select courses through the parent portal, they must first obtain their student’s access key from the Henley main office during regular school hours. Please complete the accompanying worksheet before entering your course requests online.

Important Information:

  • If you are taking Algebra I, there is a required Algebra lab that needs to be selected too. The Algebra lab counts as an elective class. The Algebra class and the algebra lab counts as two courses.
  • The following electives have applications that are due by February 13: AVID, Journalism, Leadership, Yearbook. Applications are available in the Henley School Counseling Office. Application classes can only be listed as alternate electives. If you are chosen, Henley counselors will make this change.
  • Health and PE are semester classes that are worth 0.5 credits each; together they count as one of your eight courses.
  • If you want to take a study hall, it is an elective class that counts as one of your eight courses. No credit is given for study hall.
  • Algebra I is a prerequisite for taking Honors Biology.
  • If you are overriding a teacher recommendation, please make sure to complete the required override form. This form is available in the Henley School Counseling Office.
  • There is no advantage to entering course requests early. Students will not be assigned to courses until all students have had course requests entered by a school counselor.

All course requests will be final as of April 24, 2015.
