About Queen Margaret Preschool
Queen Margaret College was established in 1919 as a private girls' school (Year 1-13). In 2003 the Preschool was established and this now caters for up to 40 girls and boys. An IB World School, the College offers all International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes: Preschool and Years 1-6- the Primary Years Programme (PYP); Years 7-10- the Middle Years Programme (MYP); and Years 12-13, The Internal Baccalaureate Diploma (IBD).
All staff will at all times, faithfully and honestly, discharge their duties and will observe and comply with all reasonable instructions and requirements in relation to their duties and their activities in or connected with the College, as may be given by the Principal of the College.
All staff are expected to keep confidential, at all times, information about the business of the College, the personal details of students and other staff members and any other information concerning the College, the disclosure of which might reasonably be expected to be detrimental to the College or current students.

Purpose

To provide high quality education based onthe International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whariki.

Responsibilities:

  1. To plan, implement and assess developmental appropriate activities according to the interests and individual needs of the children in the pre-school that would foster social, physical, emotional, cognitive and creative development.
  2. To communicate and work co-operatively with all staff and parents.
  3. To provide a warm, nurturing and respectful environment.
  4. To directly supervise the children in the programme at all times, ensuring that all activities are offered at and away from the pre-school are age appropriate and carried out in a safe and organised manner.
  5. To share with parents information about the child’s day and involve parents in the programme.
  6. To be involved in special events organised for children and families.
  7. To be familiar with the Policies and Procedures Manual and to follow the policiesincluding Health and Safety policies.
  8. To provide or arrange for first aid in case of emergencies. Reportable incidents will be documented and a report completed the same day following College procedures. NB: All Pre-School teachers at the College must maintain a current First Aid Certificate.
  9. To assist in regular cleaning routines as well as cleaning of toys, washing bedding and outdoor clothes left at the pre-school.
  10. To complete all administration duties as required by the Head Teacher.
  11. To contribute to the regular planning, agenda, newsletters and to attend and participate in staff meetings.
  12. To maintain confidentiality about children, families and the pre-school.
  13. To take responsibility for your professional growth including IT usage and development of self-evaluation on an ongoing basis.
  14. To take responsibility for regular monitoring of a group of children to ensure each individual’s progress is documented accordingly.
