STUDENT INFORMATION

COURSE LOCATION: Classroom instruction will take place at the Minneapolis Police Special Operations Center (SOC), 4119 DuPont Ave N., Minneapolis, MN 55412 (SOC entrance is on the NE corner of the building). Please arrive at 0830 on 1 May to complete registration …with class beginning at 0900. Please have photo ID available upon check-in.

Tower training will take place at the Minneapolis Fire Training Facility, 25 37 Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418.

RECOMMENDED LODGING: Crown Plaza - Minneapolis North, 2200 Freeway Blvd, Minneapolis, MN 55430, or County INN & Suites, 2550 Freeway Blvd, Brooklyn Center, MN 55430. Both hotels are approx. 4-miles from the training venue.

AIR TRAVEL: Commercial air travel is available into the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

RENTAL CARS: All major rental car companies have representatives in the baggage claim area at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT AND CLOTHING: Each student will need to bring the following equipment for the class: rappel harness, full fingered heavy leather rappel gloves (Flight Gloves will not be sufficient), and two locking snap-links. All other equipment will be provided.

The following items are suggested and will enhance the training during the course:

Any tactical gear you expect to operate with (helmet, tactical body armor, radios, weapons, etc.). Tactical uniforms/clothing will be sufficient for the classroom and tower training.

Day Three – 0900-1800:

Fast Rope Operations

Advanced Law Enforcement Rappelling (Expedient Rappelling, Self-Belay, Self Rescue, Ascending, Upside Down Rappelling, etc.)

Knot Test (100% or higher required)

Written Test (90% or higher required)

Rappel Master Evaluation (100% required)

Questions and Answers/Health Check

Graduation

***Each night you will need to spend 1-2 hours practicing your knot tying
