Central City School District #133 February 17, 2009
The Central City School District #133 Board of Education met in regular session on February 17, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the school library. President Altenbaumer called the meeting to order. The following members were presents: Tom Altenbaumer, Rick Starr, Arland Speidel, Victoria Benjamin, Julie Miller, Justin Maas and Mike Altenbaumer. No member was absent.
Motion was made by Justin Maas and seconded by Rick Starr to approve the minutes of the January 20, 2009 regular meeting as read. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Tom Altenbaumer, Rick Starr, Arland Speidel, Victoria Benjamin, Julie Miller, Justin Maas and Mike Altenbaumer. No member or members voted nay. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Rick Starr and seconded by Justin Maas to approve the Treasurer and Superintendent’s reports as presented and to approve the bills and payroll for payment. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Tom Altenbaumer, Rick Starr, Arland Speidel, Victoria Benjamin, Julie Miller, Justin Maas and Mike Altenbaumer. No member or members voted nay. Motion carried.
Pat Pracht and Susan Bozett were present at the meeting.
Motion was made at 7:05 p.m. by Julie Miller and seconded by Rick Starr to go into Executive Session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity. 5ILCS 120/2(c)(1), as amended by P.A. 93-0057; student disciplinary cases. 5ILCS 120/2 ( c) (9) and discussion of lawfully closed meeting minutes, whether for purpose of approval by the body of the minutes or semi-annual review of the minutes as mandated by Section 2.06. 5ILCS 120/2(c)(21). On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Tom Altenbaumer, Rick Starr, Arland Speidel, Victoria Benjamin, Julie Miller, Justin Maas and Mike Altenbaumer. No member or members voted nay. Motion carried.
Motion was made at 7:15 p.m. by Justin Maas and seconded by Victoria Benjamin to come out of Executive Session and resume the regular meeting. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Tom Altenbaumer, Rick Starr, Arland Speidel, Victoria Benjamin, Julie Miller, Justin Maas and Mike Altenbaumer. No member or members voted nay. Motion carried.
There was no old business to discuss.
Motion was made by Victoria Benjamin and seconded by Julie Miller to set the mileage reimbursement rate to 55 cents per mile for 2009. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Tom Altenbaumer, Rick Starr, Arland Speidel, Victoria Benjamin, Julie Miller, Justin Maas and Mike Altenbaumer. No member or members voted nay. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Arland Speidel and seconded by Rick Starr to set May 21, 2009 as the date for 8th grade graduation. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Tom Altenbaumer, Rick Starr, Arland Speidel, Victoria Benjamin, Julie Miller, Justin Maas and Mike Altenbaumer. No member or members voted nay. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Arland Speidel and seconded by Justin Maas to approve the end of the year field trips. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Tom Altenbaumer, Rick Starr, Arland Speidel, Victoria Benjamin, Julie Miller, Justin Maas and Mike Altenbaumer. No member or members voted nay. Motion carried.
Motion to hire Bushue Human Resources, Inc. died due to lack of motion.
Motion was made by Mike Altenbaumer and seconded by Rick Starr to keep the closed meeting minutes as unreleased. On a roll call vote the following members voted aye: Tom Altenbaumer, Rick Starr, Arland Speidel, Victoria Benjamin, Julie Miller, Justin Maas and Mike Altenbaumer. No member or members voted nay. Motion carried.
Mr. Branon reported on the following items:
1. Bus cameras have been purchased.
2. ISAT Testing on March 2-13.
3. Lunch trays have been purchased.
4. Computer for Education Fundraiser for band and choir.
5. Update on “Pennies for Penny” fundraiser.
6. Jr. High Boy’s Basketball update.
7. Pre-School Screening – March 10th- 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
8. Kindergarten screening date- April 17th- 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Motion was made at 8:00 p.m. by Arland Speidel and seconded by Rick Starr to adjourn the meeting.
