Many combo products for colds, sinus problems and flu symptoms contain aspirin or one of the above products. Look for the words acetylsalicylate, salicylic, acetylsalicylic acid or salicylamide in the ingredient list.

The Center for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration recommend that aspirin and aspirin containing products not be given to children and teenagers suffering from a viral illness, such as influenza, chicken pox or the common cold.
