RACE 2 – NICHOLS SOUND & COMMUNICATION STAKES – 2200 METRES
The start of this event was delayed due to a Singapore Gallops and then an interstate Greyhound race running behind schedule.
Stewards delayed the all-clear in this event to view the official replays in relation to the start of the event. After viewing the films and taking evidence from the driver (Natalee Emery) and trainer (Shelley Barnes) of OUR MAXICAM, stewards ascertained that OUR MAXICAM broke early in the score up and initially lost ground. After attempting to re-establish its position in the score up as the field was approaching the candy pole, stewards were of the opinion that as all other runners were in their required positions by the nominated marker (candy pole) as they are obliged to be, Stewards deemed OUR MAXICAM to be a starter in the event and subsequently declared all clear on the judges numbers. OUR MAXICAM will be placed out of the draw in future mobile start events.
OUR MAXICAM raced ungenerously throughout the event and underwent a post-race veterinary examination which could not find any obvious abnormalities.
Stewards inquired into an incident racing around the home turn. After taking evidence from drivers Ricky Duggan (FOLLOWTHEWIND NZ), Troy Hillier (MOBI DOC), Paul Ashwood (BLACKJACK HANOVER) and Duncan Dornauf (FUNDAMENTALIST) it was established that Mr Duggan had commenced to shift to a three wide position and as a result MOBI DOC was obliged to shift wider. MOBI DOC then hung out abruptly away from the shifting FOLLOWTHEWIND NZ, inconveniencing BLACKJACK HANOVER and checking FUNDAMENTALIST. Mr Duggan was reminded of his obligations when shifting runners in similar circumstances.
NOTONASUNDAY hung out approaching the first turn.
BISPING hung in rounding the home turn and contacted marker pegs.
RACE 3 – CHARTLEY ESTATE TWO YEAR OLD – 1680 METRES
ROCKNROLL DANCER which broke in the latter part of the score and was then out of position at the start has been placed out of the draw for future mobile start events. TANAMAY and RYLEY MAJOR who was drawn near ROCKNROLL DANCER were out of position as a result and subsequently no action was taken.

Stewards inquired into the reasons for WESTERN KARAMEA NZ (Tim Yole) breaking in the home straight whilst trailing JODILA (John Walters). It was established that shortly after entering the home straight JODILA shifted out momentarily before then being corrected by its driver. WESTERN KARAMEA NZ then broke when disappointed for a run between JODILA and CRANBRE, as stewards could not be satisfied that either driver was solely responsible for the racing incident no action was taken.
RACE 6 – LONGFORD EQUINE CLINIC STAKES – 2200 METRES
TRULY BLISSFULL pulled hard whilst being restrained in the three wide position in the early stages.

Mr Slater was fined the sum of $100.
Stewards inquired into the reasons for MOTU CRUSADER NZ momentarily racing four wide in the vicinity of the candy pole on the last occasion. After taking evidence from Todd Rattray (DEVENDRA) and Gareth Rattray (MOTU CRUSADER NZ) it was established that DEVENDRA was hanging out throughout this point in the race and had a tendency to follow ALL I CAN BE (John Walters) who was attempting to shift from the one out line into a 3 wide position. As stewards could not be satisfied that the incident had occurred prior to the candy pole and that the racing manners of DEVENDRA had played a contributing part in the incident, stewards refrained from taking any further action.
