Whereas, on February 12, 2011, as part of its celebration of Mardi Gras, the Krewe of Charleston will host a grande ball masque at the Charleston Marriott for the benefit of the Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital Fund; and
Whereas, the only Mardi Gras krewe on the United States Atlantic Coast, the Krewe of Charleston was established in 2009 and, like its sister krewes, holds its grande ball masque annually; and
Whereas, presiding over this year’s ball will be the krewe’s royalty of 2011, King Charles II, played by John Marshall McAvoy, and the Queen of Charleston, played by Jenny Sanford, former South Carolina First Lady; and
Whereas, grateful for its fine effort to support the Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital Fund, the House of Representatives is pleased to commend the Krewe of Charleston and to wish its members much success in this worthy fundraising endeavor. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
