JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Community Services Outreach CoordinatorDepartment: Crisis Services
Type: Part Time, Hourly Reports To: Program Director
Salary: $13.50/hr., 30 hrs./week
Job Summary: Responsible for providing outreach services to specific populations in the Hampton Roads Region, specifically Portsmouth and Chesapeake.
- Locate underserved victims or potential victims of Domestic Violence or Sexual Assault who would not normally reach out to traditional services.
- Provide culturally relevant access by going into the community to educate special populations on available resources for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
- Encourage underserved and potential victims to have involvement with law enforcement
- Network with agencies/entities which have a connection to persons from underserved populations to educate them on available services through H.E.R. which will include referrals, non-clinical consultation and/or case management on issues specific to victims of crime.
- Provide one on one meetings and distribute program specific materials.
- Attend Coordinated Entry meetings to advocate on behalf of clients.
- Orients/Oversees utilization of volunteers or assigned interns for training program needs.
- Assists Program manager in program development and implementation, including development of annual program plan and individual goals.
- Works with Program manager to ensure all client needs are being met. Assists with establishing best practices to further the program.
- Builds strategic partnerships with outside resources to benefit client and program needs.
- Provides documentation of all services, activities and incidents using appropriate forms, Electronic Case Management system, inner office communications and/or client files.
- Actively participates in documenting and reporting information for program related grants in a timely manner.
- Participates in training seminars, staff meetings and program meetings, speaking engagements and other agency functions actively.
- Maintains a professional demeanor with supervisor, co-workers, clients and other organizations. Communicates effectively and courteously. Brings appropriate issues to the Executive Director’s attention. Adheres to H.E.R. policies and procedures, include Standard of Conduct.
- Performs all other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements:
Undergraduate Degree preferred in Human Services related field.
Personal qualifications include:
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to collaborate with other service providers
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing
- Professional and sensitive attitude, which reflects the philosophy of H.E.R.
- Excellent driving record; valid driver’s license; certificate of insurance from an insurance carrier licensed in the state of Virginia; safe, reliable vehicle
- A strong sense of respect for confidentiality involving both clients and fellow employees
- Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally-diverse families and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.
