The people of Wistow have gathered together to save our local pub. In order to submit an offer to the existing Landlords to purchase it as soon as possible – please help us to raise the money.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

The pub will be closed on 2nd October, 2017 and the existing Landlords were trying to acquire change of use and sell it as a development. Keep Wistow Flowing(KWF) Steering Grouptogether with the Parish Council have applied to Huntingdon District Council to make The Three Horseshoes in Wistow an Asset of Community Value thereby scuppering any plans to make the The Three Horseshoes a potential development site for houses. The KWF Steering Group and Parish Council have had to move quickly to initiate this process and we are hoping on the 15th October 2017 The Three Horseshoes will become the Asset of Community Value for being the Last pub in the village.

We must not lose our pub.!

As you are aware, we have carried out a survey of the village and discovered the wants and needs of over 60% of the village and how they would like to use The Three Horseshoes and our plan is to achieve these wants. The Pub will be a “goto place”. During the day the lonely and elderly will be able to go for coffees and teas to set up group and play cards or Bingo, daytime Quizzes, and enjoy breakfast or midmorning snack. The pub will be a first call for residents who need help and advice. We will approach a Mobile Library and mobile health clinics and blood donor to use the car park. We will also make this a delivery point for internet shoppers. The Pub will serve hot lunches and good honest English Pub Grub for dinner it will stock a wide range of ales and local beers and house evening quiz and televised sports. It will be the hub of the community and will have charitable intent.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?

A local community pub if we succeed. A Social investment. Pioneering spirit to not only save the pub but the village as a whole.

Our plan is to buy the pub, once bought and tenanted the rent payable by the tenant will be set and agreed for their tenancy and will be based on turnover. So once open the more the pub is supported with customers the quicker the rent will increase with turnover and before too long an interest payment can be received on shares purchased. The Three Horseshoes can be sold hopefully within a 3 to 5 Year period and investments can be returned and any profit will be forwarded to the community or pub for reinvestment in our community.

WHAT ARE WE ASKING OF YOU?

To express your interest with an amount of money if you support the concept. You would not be making a firm commitment at this stage, but we do need to have an idea of how much finance we could raise locally. Our Business Plan requires us to have an idea of available finance before the end of September 2017.

If you cannot contribute financially we would still like your help.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

We will form a Community Benefit Society (BenComm). If the plan looks viable, we will start to get into negotiations and an Offer of Intent will be made to the Landlords. As the Business Plan progresses, we would ask those who have pledged to firm up on their offer.
