Open to Students in Ashland and Hopkinton

Century 21 Commonwealth in conjunction with the Hopkinton Athletic Association (HAA), Hopkinton Cultural Arts Alliance (CAA), Hopkinton Marathon Committee, Boston Athletic Association (BAA), and the Youth Commission.

Eligibility:
The Marathon Art Contest is open to all students (Kindergarten through 12th grade) who are either attending a school or are residents of Hopkinton or Ashland. The goals of the poster contest are to:
- Promote the theme "The Marathon: A Personal Journey”
- Promote Hopkinton, Ashland and their athletic spirit
- Present artwork for public display and recognition
- Highlight the towns’ historic ties with the BAA Boston Marathon
TIMELINES & NOTES:
- Deadline: Please submit all entries by Monday, March 26, 2007.
- Prize winners will be notified and announced on Monday, April 2, 2007.
- All posters will be displayed during Patriots Day Weekend (April 14-16) in local businesses and at marathon-related activities for thousands of people from around the World to see!

CONTEST RULES:
- All entries should be original artwork.
- Posters must be 14"x18" and should be done on paper that allows for duplication, display and mounting.
- Acceptable media include marker, crayon, watercolor, ink, acrylic, colored pencil and/or tempera paint. Middle and high school students may choose a separate computer-generated art category. Please do not glue or tape anything onto the poster
- All entries should relate to the theme "The Marathon: A Personal Journey!! ”
- First and last name should appear on the front, lower right corner and on the back of the artwork.
- Drop off entries in any of the main offices of the Hopkinton or Ashland Public Schools, Century 21Commonwealth, 76 Main Street, or the Selectmen’s Offices in the Town Halls of Ashland and Hopkinton.
- All submissions will become the property of the Hopkinton Athletic Association.
- A panel of artists, sponsors and volunteers will select the winning posters based on creativity, composition, and design.
