You will be creating weekly vocabulary lists from your reading, due at the beginning of class each Wednesday. Write down just five words that you don’t know from your weekly reading, and look up the 1) definition and 2) part of speech. Then 3) write a sentence that demonstrates that you know the meaning of that word. You will then pick one of those vocabulary words to teach to the rest of the class, from which a vocabulary list will be compiled. In addition, an assignment will be given which will ask you to come up with 1) three books that you think should/should not be banned (which would involve researching the latest list of banned books in the U.S. school system), 2) three books that should be included in the FMS 11th grade curriculum, and 3) why they should be banned or included.
