Notes and observations:
The test-taker has problems with speaking and fluency and sometimes uses words from hisfirst language and his hesitations and slowness prevent effective understanding in some moments
of the interview.
Comprehension is mostly accurate and responses are also acceptable. He did very well in copying
ATC clearances dictated by the tester what demonstrated that he felt more comfortable with
technical language than with general English.
During the interview he listened to a recorded tape with some short stories to verify his
comprehension and he had a good understanding of it.
The materials used for the interview were the following:
a. Reading from ICAO Journal;
b. ATC clearances developed by the tester;
c. Aeronautical pictures to elicit immediate, appropriate and informative responses and create
interaction between the speaker and the listener;
d. Listening from book “American Streamline Connections” – Unit 23: Four Disasters.
