4th Grade Native American At-Home Project

Social Studies and Technology

In addition to the research project that students will be completing at school, students will also be completing an at-home project (see possibilities below). The project is due on December 4th, 2009 and should include a one-paragraph typed explanation and sequential photographs of the student completing the project (see rubric below).

The students should add to their at-school research by locating information at home about one of the following project possibilities.

Project Possibilities:

  • Diorama of village/town/housing of assigned tribe
  • Student-made jewelry or clothing in the style of the assigned tribe
  • Student-made original artwork in the style of the assigned tribe
  • Journal/diary of a member of the assigned tribe (minimum of 10 entries)
  • Tribe newspaper (include articles, advertisements, and comics related to the research)

It shows potential, but was not completed in a careful manner. / The project appears rushed or of too-simple quality for a month-long project. It is not neatly done or carefully finished.
Paragraph Description / A one-paragraph description of the project is displayed with the project. It explains how the project exemplifies the culture of the assigned tribe.
