POLICY STATEMENT
Meals on Wheels Central Coast Limited manages Human Resources to ensure that adequate numbers of appropriately skilled and trained staff/volunteers are available for the safe delivery of meals, social support and other food services to our clients.
· Our organization will access expert external advice and information on human resource management if required.
· We have adequate staff and volunteers to provide quality support that meets the assessed needs of our clients and funding requirements.
· Staff and volunteers with appropriate skills and competence are recruited.
· Ongoing supervision and support and annual performance reviews enhance the skills and competence of staff.
· There are adequate staff numbers at all times.
· Human resource management processes are continually reviewed and improved.
· Staff and volunteers are encouraged to report any suspected corrupt or fraudulent practices of others. Any staff member making a report will be protected from reprisal in line with the NSW Whistle Blowers/Protected Disclosures legislation.
7.1 Human Resource Support
Central Coast Meals on Wheels ensures the effective management of human resources through accessing support and information from the following expert agencies:

· Other specific human resource management consultants if required.
In addition, all staff involved in the recruitment and management of staff attend workshops in human resource management as required to their role.
7.2 Staff Recruitment
Central Coast Meals on Wheels has a range of staff to ensure that the organization is effectively managed and services meet the needs of clients.

7.2.1 Recruitment Policy
· All staff are recruited according to our Equal Employment Opportunity Policy (see below)
· All permanent vacancies are advertised internally and externally if required after due consideration of current staff interest and abilities in line with our succession planning principles and also concurrently with point 7 below.
· All staff and volunteers will be inducted prior to the commencement of their roles.
· All staff and volunteers have a Criminal History Check every three years.
· The Manager is responsible for the recruitment of our organization’s staff and delegates as appropriate.
· The Board of Management is responsible for the recruitment of the Manager and staff if required.
· Provide the most cost effective way of recruiting and selecting staff.
7.2.2 Equal Employment Opportunity
Our organization will select applicants for positions based on merit.
Equal opportunity principles are followed in all areas of staff management. Individuals are appointed based on their ability to meet criteria that are consistent with the role and position description.
Information and training, when appropriate, on equal employment opportunity and staff recruitment processes is provided to all staff and Board members involved in staff recruitment.
7.2.3 Monitoring Human Resource Management Processes and Systems
Human resource management processes and systems are regularly audited as part of our Quality program and staff, clients and other stakeholders are encouraged to provide ongoing feedback on issues and areas where improvements can be made.
