2014 COMFORTER BLITZ INFORMATION
Please Come! It is almost time for our 8th annual Comforter Blitz!! If you have attended the Comforter Blitz previously, you know what fun it is to work together. It is such a blessing to serve God in this small way and to bring warmth to those in need. Last year, we made 150+ comforters for MCC, most going to other countries where needed. We will again use the South Hutchinson Mennonite Church, Journey at Yoder Campus, one mile north of Yoder; 3605 E Longview Rd, Haven, KS. The dates this year are: Monday, March 10, 12:00 noon - 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, March 11, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. A quilt will also be set up for avid hand quilters. The comforters will be distributed by MCC for needs around the world, and a few may be sold at the MCC sale.
Please spread the word about the Comforter Blitz and get a car or van load together to come spend the day, or even both days, at this event! Child care can be provided, if needed, Tuesday. Please contact one of the contact persons on the bottom of this page if you want it. We hope working women and men, families, or youth groups will take advantage of the evening hours Monday; so talk to the youth leaders of your church and challenge them to come. Men, bring your pliers and help us knot the stack of denim comforters we have ready!
Mon. Supper: Chili will be available for a donation.
Tues. Lunch: Sloppy Joes will be available for a donation. Or you may bring your own sack lunch. Drinks will be provided.
Other items needed from individuals or groups:
- Comforter Tops -.
**Preferred size: Twin - 60” x 80”. Full size – 82” x 90” is acceptable but twin preferred. We have some tops ready at the MCC center but need others ready to go with fabric for backs, at least 4” larger than tops all the way around. MCC has some material for backs if you need it.
2. Donations for batting – We have purchased 10 large rolls of batting. Our bank account covering this expense is very low, so we would appreciate donations for batting for next year. Thank you for your help!
3. Knotting Thread - #10 Knit-cro-sheen in colors other than white. (Women's groups could bring their box of thread and let us use what is needed and then return what is left.)
.. It is helpful if you can bring large eyed needles for knotting, scissors, and thimble,
Remember to label everything!!! If you lost something last year, we have some found items you can check.
Location to the South Hutchinson Mennonite Church, Journey at Yoder campus, 1 mile north of Yoder, 3605 E Longview Rd, Haven, KS.
