The Trust owns or manages 26 nature reserves covering an area of 3,500 acres.Our staff are based in 5 locations around the county including our Headquarters at Wolseley Bridge, Stafford. We employapproximately 60 staff in 2departments:-Conservation Deliveryand Resources. The Trust has a diverse workforce including site wardens, wildlife surveyors, community and educationofficers, catering and administration staff.
In addition we have one trading company which looks after the trading side of our business including a café at Westport Lake Visitor Centre, and a charity shop in Leek.
Job Purpose:
To manage and record financial information relating to Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and its subsidiary in conjunction with other Department staff and in accordance with statutory regulations, financial instructions and good accounting practice.
Responsibilities:
  1. Produce the Trust’s financial information, including management accounts and annual statutory accounts, liaising with the Trust auditors and Head of Resources as necessary and ensuring compliance with Company and Charity Law.
  2. Be responsible for the preparation of submissions to the Trust’s regulators including Companies House, HMRC, Charity Commission etc, liaising with the Head of Resources as necessary.
  3. Assist in the preparation of information for the outsourced payroll provider
  4. Preparequarterly VAT returns in compliance with statutory regulations.
  5. Be responsible for the collection of Gift Aid by liaising with the Membership department as necessary.
  6. Provide cash balance figures as required but at least monthly.
  7. Line manage the finance assistant and bookkeeper and carry out appraisals in accordance with SWT guidelines
  8. In order for the organisation to work effectively you may be required to assist with other areas of work and therefore you should be prepared to undertake other duties, appropriate to the post, as delegated by your line manager.
