CHILD PROTECTION ADVOCACY
BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT
Connecticut Legal Services, Inc. (CLS) seeks to fill one full-time attorney position in the area of child protection in the Bridgeport area. The position will involve representing children in juvenile court in abuse, neglect and/or uncared for petitions, Families with Service Needs petitions and serving as Guardian Ad Litem in delinquency matters. The position will include working on a team with a legal assistant and a social service professional to provide quality and holistic legal representation. The team will take a holistic approach to representing children, which includes representation in juvenile court, at all related administrative meetings and proceedings and advocacy to secure necessary educational, medical, and behavioral health services.
The attorney will
· receive training related to child protection law
· maintain an active caseload of representation and Guardian Ad Litem cases
· conduct community outreach and coordinate with other social service agencies working with our clients
Qualifications: We are seeking an attorney with at least two (2) years experience in child protection representation in juvenile court, including trial experience. We particularly seek applicants with experience in or connections to low-income and/or minority communities. Applicants with Spanish language ability preferred, although not required.
Start /Date: July 1, 2010 or later.
Compensation: Salary depends on experience; excellent benefits.
