Beach Monitor

Two (2) Full Time- One (2) Part Time /Call-in

Basic Function: Under the direction of the Ipperwash Beach Management Strategy Shift Supervisor, the primary duties of Beach Monitor will work at the West Ipperwash Beach where he/she will help promote a safe and healthy work environment. The purpose of the Beach Monitor is to maintain a safe environment by performing regular patrols, inspection and/or incident response services. He/she must be available for all scheduled shifts, weekends, holidays and enjoy working outdoors during the summer season.

Duties:

  • Monitor activities between both Toll Gates located at West Ipperwash Road and Center Side Road;
  • Attend meetings when necessary;
  • Perform regular patrols along the shoreline to ensure all rules and regulations are being followed;
  • Report to the Shift Supervisor of any non-compliance and contact Police if required for any disputes or problems that need to be resolved;
  • Be courteous, polite and welcoming to all visitors;
  • Direct visitors to parking locations and boat launch areas when needed;
  • Inform visitors about rules and regulations;
  • Assist with equipment and property maintenance tasks if required;
  • Provide excellent customer service to all parties encountered while on duty;
  • Assist in other areas when required as directed by the Shift Supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Must be registered with Employment Service Access (ESA);
  • Preference given to unemployed, underemployedor in receipt of social income programs;
  • Grade 12 or GED and must provide transcript or certificate from last year in school;
  • Reliable transportation to and from work site;
  • Willing to work outdoors during the peak summer season where temperatures can vary from hot to cool;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Ability to work well with others and take direction;
  • Previous work related experience is preferred.

TOLL GATE OPERATORS

Four (4) Full Time –Two (2) Part Time /Call In

Basic Function: Under the direction of the Ipperwash Beach Management StrategyShift Supervisor, he/she is responsible for the duties and responsibilities related to the Toll Gate Booths and represent the First Nation as a Community Ambassador. He/she must be available for all scheduled shifts, weekends, holidays and enjoy working outdoors during the summer season. The Toll Gate Operator is an opportunity to gain work experience and customer service skills.

Duties:

  • Responsible for opening and closing of assigned Toll Gate;
  • Responsible for the sale of permits and seasonal passes;
  • Handle cash and use debit machine;
  • Attend meetings when necessary;
  • Responsible for verifying valid permits;
  • Be courteous, polite and welcoming to all visitors;
  • Receive and direct all inquiries in a professional manner;
  • Provide information to visitors for designated boat launching and boat trailer parking areas;
  • Distribute rules and regulation brochures and review with each visitor at point of sale;
  • Ensure that assigned Gate House is cleaned and maintained every shift;
  • All other duties as directed by the Shift Supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Must be registered with Employment Service Access (ESA);

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work site;
  • Must be able to work outdoors during summer peak season and endure hot to cool temperatures;
  • Ability to work well with others and take direction;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Currentacceptable CPIC is required;
  • Experience working with cash and customer service background preferred;
  • Grade 12 or GED, must provide transcript from last year of high school, diploma or GED;

Property Maintenance Worker - Two (2) Full Time - Two (2) Part Time

Basic Function: Under the direction of the Ipperwash Beach Management Strategy Shift Supervisor, primary duties of Property Maintenance Worker will work at the West Ipperwash Beach. The main purpose of the Property Maintenance Worker is to keep the beach up to standard with cleaning of garbage, debris, any hazardous material, and sand removal. He/she must enjoy working outdoors during the summer season.

Duties:

  • Raking of sand to remove any dead debris scattered along the West Ipperwash Beach in swimming areas;
  • Attend meetings when necessary;
  • Responsible for the daily distribution and collection of garbage pails, recycling bins;
  • Responsible for the daily distribution of animal waste bins;
  • Communicate well with others;
  • Repair and maintain signs, toll gates and any other equipment as required;
  • Practise safe work ethics;
  • Assist any fellow co-workers when needed;
  • Prepare designated areas for scheduled functions.

  • Physical ability to lift and work outdoors during summer peak season and endure hot to cool temperatures;
  • Understand various tools and how to operate them;
  • Ability to work well with others and take direction;

Shift Supervisor - Two (2) Part Time

Basic Function: Under the direction of the Ipperwash Beach Management Strategy Project Coordinator, the primary duties of Shift Supervisor will include supervision of employees, customer service relations, bookkeeping and preparing financial reports for the bank and finance department. He/she shall represent the First Nation as a Community Ambassador. He/she must be available for all scheduled shifts, weekends, holidays and enjoy working outdoors during the summer season.

Duties:

  • Opening and closing of both gate houses located at West Ipperwash Road and Center Side Road;
  • Responsible for supervision all employees on shift and ensure their safety;
  • Prepare daily sales reports;
  • Prepare daily cash reports for bank deposits;
  • Responsible for all cash collected during shift and make daily deposits to the bank;
  • Attend meetings when necessary;
  • Prepare daily schedule for lunch and breaks for all staff;
  • Ensure all equipment is setup and put away neatly and properly every day.
  • Prepare daily reports for the Project Coordinator;
  • Make sure all staff have filled out and signed their timesheets properly for Project Coordinator;
  • Notify the Project Coordinator of all incidents or staffing situations.

Requirements:

  • Must be registered with Employment Service Access (ESA);
  • Preference will be given to unemployed, underemployed or in receipt of a social income program;
  • Previous experience as a cashier, customer service representative or a position in leadership is an asset.
  • Excellent time management & organizational skills is a must;
  • Good report writing and clear concise updates;
  • Ability to work well with othersand provide direction;
  • Current acceptable CIPC required;
  • Reliable transportation is required as there is some travel necessary.
  • Grade 12 or GED; must provide high school transcript from last year of school.
  • Must be able to work outside, sometimes under extreme heat and stress.
