HRM 440: TALENT MANAGEMENT

INTRODUCTION.

The term, “Talent Management” was coined by McKinsey & Co. following their study of the subject in 1997. It has since become a popular subject, especially in South African Companies. Talent Management is viewed as a holistic approach to the management of Human Capital.

METHODS OF DELIVERY.

Lectures, class discussions, assignments and case studies will take Centre stage. Concepts will be introduced in class but students are encouraged to conduct further research for more details and viewpoints of various scholars.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES.

By the end of the Semester, Students are expected to have developed the following skills:

a)  Thinking skills;

b)  Analytical skills;

c)  Written communication skills; and

d)  Research skills.

A part from developing the above skills, students should be able to apply the concept of Talent Management in the work place.
