On behalf of the officers and crew of USS Milius (DDG 69), welcome aboard. Milius was commissioned in 1996, and named in honor of a courageous naval aviator, Captain Paul L. Milius, who gave his life for his aircrew during combat action over Laos in 1968.Your assignment to an Aegis Destroyer indicates that you are among the best in your field. You will be joining a team of dedicated and professional destroyer Sailors who truly take pride in their ship, the Navy and the country.

Please contact your sponsor via email or phone within five working days. We will be happy to assist you and provide additional information to help make your transition to Milius a positive one.

Immediately prior to reporting aboard call your sponsor or the ship to determine its current location. Immediate permanent military housing upon arrival is not usually available, but you will be ahead of the housing situation by exchanging information as early as you can and your sponsor can assist you during your transition by providing you with more detailed information pertaining to current BAH rates and the civilian housing market. Civilian housing is available throughout the greater San Diego area however rental prices are fairly high.
