Student Guide – Basics for Using ACC Career Connect
ACC Career Connect is the web-based transfer, job, internship, and volunteer posting system for Arapahoe Community College. This centralized database provides students with a number of services which include:
- Search for work-study, hourly on-campus, part-time, full-time, internship, and volunteer opportunities
- Search for employers in your career or academic major field.
- View the Career and Transfer Center "Events Calendar" for upcoming workshops, career and transfer fairs and job opportunities.
- Receive updates on Career and Transfer Center events, employer visits to campus, and job opportunities.
- Safely store and manage your resumes, cover letters, portfolio items, and letters of recommendation.
- Use the "Resource Library" to access job search tutorials, sample resumes and cover letters and more!
If you are a current ACC student, you will be seamlessly logged in to your ACC Career Connect student account when you log in to myACC. In myACC access the ACC Career Connect link under the Resources tab.Click on ACC Career Connect below the Career Center section at the bottom right of the page.
How do I update my profile?
- In ACC Career Connect,click on the Update Profilelink on the right hand side .…or
- Under My Account on the Menu bar in the drop-down menu click on My Profile.
- Click on [Edit] to open your profile toadd or correctany missing information.
- When finished click on the Save button.
Complete your profile as soon as possible to access all the resources.
- You will see other sections containing Personal Information, Demographic Information, Skills, and Additional Information.
- Each section will have an [Edit] link. Click on this link or on the tabs at the top of your profile to edit each field within the section.
- Carefully go through each section and complete all of the fields making sure to click on the Save button. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).
NOTE: The more completely you fill out your profile, the better the Career and Transfer Center will be able to keep youupdated on jobs, events, and employers in your academic major or in your career interests.
How do I upload my resume, cover letter, portfolio items, or letters of recommendation?
- From the drop-down menu under My Account click on My Documents.
- Click on the [Upload File] link.
- Click the Browse button to find your document on your hard drive or a flash drive.
- Select the correct document and name it.
- Click the Upload button.
NOTE: When uploading more than one document, make sure your most generic resume is your default. Your default resume is the document that employers can view when accessing our system.
How do I search for jobs, internships and volunteer opportunities?
•In the drop down menu under Job search click on Job Search.
•Fill in the search criteria to narrow down your job search OR just click the Search button
(without entering any search criteria) to view all current jobs.
•Click on the Job ID to see the specifics of the position and how to apply.
Saving Jobs
•To save the search criteria click on [Save Search] after you have conducted your search
•Give your search a specific name, such as "part-time" or "accounting Internship."
•To access your saved search, click on "I want to.." on the left hand side and select the saved search.
•You can save jobs to your favorites by clicking on the Add to Favorites button inthe job profile.
•You can also save jobs by clicking the grey star icon next to the job record in the search results.
•Click on My Favorites on the left navigation bar to see your favorite jobs.
A yellow star will be displayed next to jobs you have saved, and a green star will appear next to jobs that you have saved and to which have submitted your resume.
NOTE: You can email job records by clicking on the Email to a Friend icon in the job profile.
Can I have ACC Career Connect send me job/internships/volunteer postings automatically?
You can save time by having ACC Career Connect send you automatic email updates when new jobs/internships/volunteer opportunities are posted by setting up a "Job Agent."
•Click on [Job Agent] after you have conducted your search.
•Give your Job Agent a specific name, such as "on-campus jobs" or "volunteer opportunities."
•Your Job Agent is now complete, and you will receive periodic emails from your Job Agent to your email address in your Profile.
•To delete a Job Agent, in the drop down under My Account click on My Activity. Click the Job Agent tab and click on "Remove."
What employers are currently recruiting, or have recruited in the past, at ACC?
•Click on Employer Directory and fill in the search criteria to narrow your search or simply click the Search button again without entering criteria to view all current Employers..
•To view details, contact information, and any current jobs click on the Employer’s name.
What kind of events are offered by the Career and Transfer Center?
•Click on "Calendar" on the left hand side and select any range of dates using the Day/Week/Month buttons and arrows at the top of the Calendar.
•To view details on an event, double-click on it or click "View Event" in the Events Details section.
OR
•Click on the Career Events menu.
•You will see a list of all current Career Events (Career Fairs, Career Seminars,Transfer Fairs etc.)
•To view details, such as employer’s registered, click on the Career Event’s name.
What is the Resource Library?
The Resource Library is a centralized location where the Career and Transfer Center posts tutorials, information, and additional web links that may be helpful to ACC students. Some examples include sample resumés and cover letters, interviewing tips, how to professionally network effectively, and additional career resource and job/internship posting web sites.
•Click on the Resource Library on the left hand side and select any folder that interests you.
•Click on the [+] button to open the folder, then click on your chosen document or web link.
Viewing Your Activity
•Put your cursor over My Account and select My Activity.
•There are 2 types of activity that you can view:
- Referrals – These are resume referrals that you’ve submitted to an employer’s job.
- Placements – These are current job placements and details of those.
