Counselor’s Corner: MAP assessments for the middle school will take place April 25th- May 6th. Make ups will take place the week after. It is important that every effort be made for student attendance during the testing sessions. Student council will be hosting a food drive March 14th through the 21st. Students are competing against seminar classes to earn a free seminar period on Monday, April 4th. Students will use their seminar time on Monday, March 21st to stack the can goods in front of the classroom door. The seminar class from each grade to complete this task will win. The goal is to collect 500 cans as a school.
Students that have not brought in their enrollment forms need to do so ASAP. New forms may be picked up in the counseling office.

Communication Arts: There will be no spelling this week. We will continue working on adverbs and will be doing editing as well. We will also begin some MAP practice in continued preparation for the spring assessment. Reminder: All homework assignments that receive a grade below a C may be redone for half credit. Assignments must be asked for that day and are due the next class time. Encourage your student to take advantage of this opportunity if needed. 7thGrade Reading:We will be setting our 4th quarter AR goals and students will receive their new reading log on Monday (due on March 29th). Our short story for this week is “Rikki-tikki-tavi.” All 7th grade classes meet on Gold day and we will visit the library every Gold Wednesday, in order to take AR tests and check out/renew books. 7thGrade Math (Ms. Nikkel):We will continue the unit on proportional relationships next week. Students will be able to find missing measurements in similar figures and determine if figures are similar using proportions.
Pre-Algebra: We will complete the unit on proportional relationships next week. Students will be able to use ratios and proportions in scale drawings. there will be a quiz on Thursday over scale drawings and similar figures. Ms. Nikkel 660-584-7161 (Conference time Gold 1:30-3:00, Blue 8:00-9:15)
7thGrade Math (Mrs. Gillilan) Students will study slope and rate of change this week. Students will be able to graph and identify slope as well as the rate of change. 7th Grade Social Studies (Mr. Brand)This week we will be finishing up chapter 8 with the history of Latin America. Students will also finish their Inca poems. If you have any questions my email is . My plan time is 9:28 to 10:52 on both Gold and Blue Days.
Science: This week we will continue our weather unit with an emphasis on weather maps and predictions. Students should be able to recognize the characteristics of air masses and predict their effect on the weather in a given location. Students should also be able to collect and interpret weather data from weather instruments and maps to explain present day weather and to predict the next day’s weather. Graphics I The students in graphics class will continue editing their multimedia presentation. The class will begin presentations with peers participating in class critiques over their presentations.

Band: This week we continued to prepare our full band pieces for our Spring Concert. We have broken each one down and worked as individual sections. 7th Grade PE/Health Next week students in both classes will be playing a variety of kickball games. The following week students will be completing their final fitness tests of the year. 7thGrade Vocal Students are beginning to prepare music for the Spring Concert. The 7th and 8th grade classes are planning to present a mini-musical called S’Cool. The classes are working on lines, staging, choreography, solos and chorus singing. This concert will be held on Thursday, May 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the East Gym.
7th FACS: Gold 2: The students will be finishing their cooking lessons with breakfast burrito’s . We will be starting our discussion on growing and changing. Blue 4: The students will be beginning their cooking lessons. They will be making pizza rolls. Students who are not in the lab will be working on finance and doing packets over checking accounts.
Industrial Tech: This week the 7th graders are studying safety rules for the shop. They will be testing over this for the next 2 weeks. They are also working on plans for their cutting board.
