The competition is open to all schools including those from the independent sector; however schools must qualify through their local SGO area/borough heats in order to progress to the County Final.
All participants will have the chance to race individually and as part of a team according to their age. Boys and girls will race separately enabling single sex schools to compete on an equal footing. The event will also be fully inclusive with disabled athletes also being invited to attend. The competition follows a simple pathway that works at 2 stages:
1. SGO/Borough Stage
Secondary Schools within an SGO Area/Borough will be encouraged to enter the first stage of the competition at a venue local to their school. The winning teams (one per borough) from each age category will then be invited to the County Final.
2. County Final
This stage of the competition will be organised by British Rowing and will comprise of all the winning schools from across the 10 Boroughs of Greater Manchester.
