POSITION: Community Worker - GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS (PAY SCALE A)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1.  High School diploma or equivalent

2.  Working knowledge of MS-Office and X2 Student Data software

3.  Demonstrates ability to work effectively with others

4.  Excellent organizational skills

5.  Must have an excellent attendance record

6.  Able to work a flexible work schedule

7.  Ability to perform clerical talks such as filing, compiling lists, preparing mail and duplicating materials

8.  Ability to speak and write Spanish or Portuguese preferred

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Assignment and Parent Center / Coordinator of Title One

JOB GOAL: To provide support to the district on matters related to community involvement, family & student support and other related responsibilities.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

§  To organize and conduct community meetings

§  To develop and maintain communication with parents and community members in their native language.

§  To help organize and plan special meetings, workshops, and other community activities

§  To support new families moving into Fall River in the process of register students for entrance to schools (including kindergarten), transfers within and from out of school district

§  To support in the registration and transition of English Language Learners (K-12) into our district and schedule appointments for Language Assessment and other services as necessary.

§  Refer families to support community service agencies as needed (i.e.: immunizations, physical exams, housing, adult basic education, etc.)

§  Refer & assist families designated as Homeless to the Homeless Education Liaison

§  To provide information and assistance to Title I schools

§  Provide translation and interpreting services to the FRPS in Spanish and/or Portuguese.

§  Carries out all related activities as directed by the supervisor and the superintendent or their designee.

Salary and Terms of Employment: (THIS IS A SCHOOL YEAR POSITION)

Salary and benefits will be based in the Fall River Schools Government Programs Negotiated Contract, Pay Scale A, Based on previous experience, degree(s), and credit status. Continued employment is contingent on availability of funds, program need, and job performance.
