This form is to be used by a person wishing to gain recognition of a formal qualification and/or a microchip implantation course (see schedule 2 Part 1) to meet the requirements for an authorised implanter. The chief executive may impose conditions on the approval that are considered reasonable and relevant.
The chief executive may require the applicant to provide additional information or documentation to decide the application.

3 Application for recognition of an equivalent qualification and/or equivalent microchip implantation course
Currently approved courses and qualifications for authorised implanters
(Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Regulation 2009, sections 20, 21 and 22)
Under the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008 an authorised implanter means:
(a) a veterinary surgeon who:
(i) has completed a course, about implanting Permanent Identification Devices (PIDs), prescribed under a regulation or approved by the chief executive
(ii) is not a prohibited implanter
(b) a person who:
(i) has a qualification relating to the implantation of PIDs prescribed under a regulation or approved by the chief executive
(ii) has completed a course, about implanting PIDs, prescribed under a regulation or approved by the chief executive
(iii) is not a prohibited implanter.
Section 24 of the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Regulation 2009 provides that the chief executive may approve a course or qualification as an equivalent course or qualification.
