EVOLUTION AND THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH
Donald R. Fox
Some may be dismayed to hear that the Roman Catholic Church does not count out the theory of evolution over creation via the teaching of the Word of God, the Bible. As of October 2014, Pope Francis has also astounded some by his liberal remarks concerning same-sex marriage and of homosexual lifestyles.
As a former Catholic, I have been mindful of the non-belief of Catholicism concerning many Biblical commands. To be honest, I did not become fully enlightened of these teachings until I was in my early thirties. These liberal open-minded and false teachings of the Roman church are mostly hidden or concealed while conducting the education of youngsters.
A FEW QUOTATIONS SHOWING CATHOLICISM TENDENCY TOWARD EVOLUTION.
“I really don't know why it is that all of us are so committed to the sea, except I think it's because in addition to the fact that the sea changes, and the light changes, and ships change, it's because we all came from the sea. And it is an interesting biological fact that all of us have in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and, therefore, we have salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea - whether it is to sail or to watch it - we are going back from whence we came.” (John F. Kennedy) (Underlining for emphasis. DRF)
“Mr. J. Was the whole structure of the universe really formed in six days?”
“Father S. Not likely. Most experts in the interpretation of Sacred Scripture are inclined to support geologists who contend that the word “day” used by Moses, could not have been the brief period spanned by twenty-four hours. Not that God could not have produced all in six days or even six seconds, but they say facts are against the literal “day.”…. The word “day”, as used by Moses, in the absence of a better word, may have covered a very long period of time…”
“Mr., J. Do not scientists hold that man’s body evolved from an ape?”
“Father S. …Even if the evolutionists were right, we are not contending that man differs so much from the animals as to body, but as to soul…Hence, whether God made Adam’s body out of the earth or not, matters little….” (Pages 11-12, Instruction II, The Fall of Man and Original Sin, Father Smith Instructs Jackson, by Most Rev. John Francis Noll and Rev. Lester J. Fallon, Published July 20, 1954 by Our Sunday Visitor Press, Huntington, Indiana)
It seems to me the Roman Catholic Church in the teaching of their doctrine would rather believe in creation but always has a "loophole" just in case their view of evolution is proven correct. This is totally human reasoning thus having their doctrine swing both ways. They have no true conviction concerning what the Bible; the Word of God teaches. The following quote in part may shed more light on the Roman church viewpoint toward who has authority. “It is for the exegetes and the theologians and, in the last resort for the teaching authority of the Church, to discriminate between what is mythical in the Biblical texts and what in the myth deserves to be retained as true. That a serpent spoke is a myth”(20th Century Encyclopedia of Catholicism, Volume 29, Nicolas Corte, 120-121) Extracted from page 33, Catholicism Against Itself, Volume 2, by O. C. Lambert) (Underlining for emphasis. DRF)
End Note: Some may think I have been too negative in the pointing out Catholic doctrine that swings to and fro as it suits them. Please see the following article that brings us up to date by way of reasoning by Cardinal Burke that gives a closer look at Biblical authority.
THE WORD OF GOD, THE BIBLE IS ALWAYS FINAL AUTHORITY AND NOT MAN.
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12 KJV)
